  • Beautiful Memories in a Beautiful Location

"Four and a half stars actually! :) First time visiting Lake Almanor and what a BEAUTIFUL area! My family (two teenage boys, husband and myself) loved staying on the peninsula... a short walk down to the very tip (less than 3/4 mile) and even shorter walk to east side beach access (.25 miles). The peninsula tip was a favorite spot of ours to swim (water very smooth in the morning and more choppy in the afternoons... temp was so refreshing and not cold at all once we were in... bring goggles and you can even spot fish and minnows... on big fish let me touch it's tail!), kayak (saw a bald eagle one day), star gaze (great Milky Way photos and lots of shooting star sightings) and lots of dogs to visit there. Another favorite spot of ours was the rec one area in the country club. We spent hours playing horse shoes, shuffle board, and pickle ball. Very nice tennis courts too. The swim area there was more geared to younger kids so we swam mostly out at the point. I was so impressed with the huge variety of evergreens and how healthy they all looked. Lots of deer wandered through our yard daily. Even saw some babies and a couple bucks. The house was perfect size/cozy for our family. I think accommodating 8 might be a bit crowded. It was clean upon arrival and easy to get into. East facing deck was nice in evening since the hot sun was on the other side. It was 93-94 degrees during our stay and the 3 giant skylights in the family room let in so much heat that the afternoons were quite toasty inside (might be nice to have some way to cover them on hot days) but I was told those were the hottest days they've had there so far this year. Whole house fan helped in the evening to pull the heat out. Beds were comfortable (although a few of the pillows could use replacing... sour smelling), wifi and cell coverage was good, kitchen was well stocked, fridge leaked water into the bottom drawer but I'm sure would be an easy fix. Peninsula market was surprisingly well stocked with everything you could need, even fresh fruits and veggies. Nice not having to drive all the way to Chester to get anything we forgot. We only ate out one night of the four we stayed but we strongly recommend Tantardino's Pasta and Pizza. So good! Had we been able to say one more day we would have for sure taken the 50-60 min drive to Lassen. We could see it from the point but would have loved to explore it up close and personally!"

  • The house was very well supplied. We found everything we needed and were quite comfortable.

"The cabin was located so close to Lassen National Park that we could get to the trail head easily. We enjoyed all the hikes we took. We came back to the cabin and easily cooked nice dinners, which we ate outside. We had a nice campfire, too! Lovely stay!"

  • Repeat Guests to Fish Inn

"We've been repeat guests to the Fish Inn over Labor Day weekend for the past few years and it continues to charm. This place is great for dog owners because it's got a fenced backyard that abuts the National Forest - there's literally the National Forest Boundary sign next to the fence so no neighbors behind the Fish Inn (except the wildlife). Every morning and evening we'd take the dogs out the back gate on an easy walk up the trail paralleling Hat Creek. The cabin is perfect - enough linens, kitchen utensils, kitchen wares, dishes, pots, pans, glass ware, etc. New to the cabin are two fans for each bedroom. The bedroom off the kitchen had the smaller fan which worked great to get some air flow. We loved sitting on the front porch in the morning and evening relaxing. Our dogs loved it too - we often found them sitting on the front porch with paws draped over the front step enjoying the cool mountain air. This is a great little cabin centrally located - almost equidistant to Lassen National Park in one direction and Burney in the other direction. We checked out Subway Cave, Butte Lake, took in the Inter-Mountain Fair in McArthur, and ate excellent pizza at Uptown Pizza in Fall River Mills. The night sky is definitely not washed out by city lights - there are so many stars to be seen, my husband had a hard time identifying some common constellations because of so many stars! The night sky doesn't disappoint!"

  • Amazing Eclectic Home-Away-From-Home!!!

"This was such a perfect place to stay! We came for our honeymoon and the location was an excellent jumping off point for everything the area has to offer. We felt like we scored a family member's lake house for the week. The house is in a very quiet location with a great view of the lake while being tucked up high in the trees. We spent most of our time hanging out on the large porch watching birds and enjoying the outdoors. Walking down to the boat ramp and getting some stargazing in was a definite highlight. The homeowner has the COOLEST collection of antiques and decor! We felt so at home here. The kitchen was really great for making meals at home, and there is plenty of room to spread out and relax. Overall, I would recommend this home to anyone who wants to get away and really experience all the area has to offer. We had a great time and will be back!"
