  • A great place to stay

"Our stay in the stone house was really enjoyable. The house is very comfortable and spacious, the kitchen had everything you could want (except, be sure to buy some packets for the coffee maker), parking was easy, the location was perfect (right downtown and walking distance to a grocery store), it was quiet, and we loved the record player with wonderful old records to play. I would stay again and recommend this house to those visiting."

  • Fantastic place to stay -- LOVED IT!!!

"The Battle Creek Retreat was amazing - in looks, accommodations, and all of the things that Kathleen provided. The house and grounds were exactly as Kathleen described. Everything very clean and well-maintained. Beautiful setting, with the back sloping down to a small creek that had good running water even in the drought -- she provided a lovely set of chairs at the creek which was a pleasant and relaxing place. The house was immaculate and large enough (with 3 bedrooms) for several folks. The master bedroom has a gorgeous view of the woods. Kathleen had the house very very well-stocked - including all the bed linens, towels (kitchen and bath) and soaps you would need (including shampoo in the bathroom). The kitchen was stocked completely with condiments, pots, pans, microwave and a refrigerator with an ice maker. All used to our complete satisfaction since we cooked all of our meals there while we were there. And the best thing of all - she left us a really good bottle of Shasta Daisy wine -- pino noir -- we loved it. The location of the house is also good -- only about 14 miles from Lassen National Volcanic Park. The road to the park is in great condition with not that much traffic during the week. We had lots of opportunities for good hikes and star gazing in and around the park while we were there. And I think the price for the stay is extremely reasonable for the value that is provided. Overall, a very impressive vacation place. Even prior to our stay, Kathleen was helpful with all of my questions. She is a wonderful hostess and we would love to stay there again. Thanks Kathleen - for a fantastic vacation."

  • Quiet, comfortable, close to town, yet in the woods!

"The guesthouse seems to be newly renovated with beautiful hardwood floors, oak moldings and plenty of room for two people. The bed area is not completely separate from the living room and kitchen, but was fine for us. There is a nice deck overlooking the property and a carport for our car. It was only a 15 minute walk to town. Sandi and John answered all of our questions and were helpful but gave us privacy. They live in the main house in front of the guesthouse. We enjoyed every minute and will return next time we want to go to Mt. Shasta."

  • Best Vacation EVER!

"I decided I wanted to spend my 50th birthday with my family in a cabin in the woods and I couldn't have picked a better place. The description and the reviews are spot on. No surprises. If you are looking for rustic, comfort and vintage this is the cabin for you. We had our 4 year old grandson and our daughters dog with us. They had room to roam, run and play inside and out. The cabin is minutes from, swimming, and boating, and just about any other outdoor fun you can think of. Shopping, dining and entertainment is just a short drive away. We will definitely be back."
