  • Quirky, cute, fantastic cottage!

"This is a great little cabin with a bit of an unconventional layout, but it worked great for our group of five adults and seven kids. The listing is a little misleading, in that the house itself is only four bedrooms, with the fifth being a standalone queen cottage in the backyard with an adjacent outhouse - it did not sound like this space was functional in winter. Here's the lowdown on the house layout: On entry, you're in a cozy living room with tv & woodburning stove. Pass through to the amazing kitchen, then through that there is a hallway with two full baths - one with shower, one with bath, and at the end of the hall is a bedroom with a king and twin bed. This bedroom also has a door to the outside. Back to the living room, there's a stairway which leads up to a landing with a bedroom with a queen and twin bed on one side, a half bath, and another bedroom with a twin and two queens. Pass through this large bedroom and you'll find a full bath and another bedroom with a queen bed. So, whoever stays in that back bedroom must pass through the larger bedroom to get out, and the Q/Tw bedroom upstairs has no adjacent showering facilities - you must go downstairs to use one of those, or pass through the large bedroom upstairs to use the shower. It totally worked for our group, but since it's unusual, I thought I'd clarify. Other things of note: The house is literally steps from Homewood resort. There's also some wilderness belonging to Homewood a block or two back from this house; we didn't have enough snow for skiing but we did get some fun sledding in this area! The house is on the main road around the lake, which can get busy, but it's set far enough back that even with a couple of toddlers, we felt totally safe. It also meant that the house was easy to get to even after a big snow bc the main road was cleared. And there's a huge, mostly fenced backyard with a fire pit. There's also a small market about half a block down for last minute purchases, super convenient! Most rooms have furnace or electric heat, but the Q/Tw bedroom upstairs didn't have any heat that we could find, so Joni brought by a space heater which did the trick. Confirm this option when booking. Also, the highlight of this house must be the kitchen! It's so adorable, and well stocked! Two foodies prepared our thanksgiving dinner here and wanted for nothing - there was even a food processor! We loved this house and would definitely stay again! Thanks so much for sharing it with us!"

  • Perfect home from home for exploring Los Angeles

"We stayed here in April 2017 for seven nights at the end of our three week holiday in California. We loved the property and location. It's easy to reach from main routes but is located on a quiet residential street. The house is very well looked after, clean and equipped with just about everything you could need to make it a real home from home. The owners have obviously put a lot of thought into what their guests might want in a holiday rental. The recently renovated back garden, pool and jacuzzi were great. We used them most evenings after being out in the LA sunshine for the day. The owners were friendly, helpful and easy to communicate with. In short, we couldn't recommend this place highly enough. We loved our stay and if we're ever back in LA, we'll definitely want to stay here. Thank you very much Julie and David!"
