  • Perfect vacation home

"My husband and I together with his sister and her preteen daughter spent seven nights at Vista View Ranch while visting Evergreen for a family wedding. The home was just perfect and significantly more cost effective than a hotel. With a large grocery store nearby, a gas grill on the deck and a well equipped kitchen, we ate most meals "at home", adding to our savings. Each room is beautifully furnished and decorated, and extremely comfortable. The master bedroom and bath are spacious and simply elegant. Entertainment amenities are plentiful, including two flat-screens, full cable access and a huge library of DVDs. We enjoyed the billiards table nearly every day and the house was equipped with many other games and things to do that we never had a chance to take advantage of. Our niece loved having her own room (with its own full sized multi-game arcade console!) and especially appreciated not having to share a hotel room with her Mom. :-). The home is very clean and well equipped with literally everything we could possibly need. (The only minor issue we encountered during the entire visit was that the heating element on the clothes dryer wasn't working, so we just line-dried a load of laundry in the fresh air.) Our host, Rita, is an extraordinarily friendly, welcoming, thoughtful person and we so enjoyed meeting her. She showed us around her beautiful ranch and even conducted her handsome horses in a performance for us, which they clearly enjoyed almost as much as we did. Our niece was allowed to help tend to the horses and the resident pony and to walk Rita's two sweet pugs, which may have been the highlight of her vacation. The ranch is in a community of elegant mountain-style estates and the setting is just gorgeous, with great hiking right on the property as well as dozens of parks, sightseeing opportunities and outdoor adventures within driving distance. Elk and deer are common sights, and we even had the exciting pleasure of seeing a rare black fox. Red Rocks Ampitheatre is a half hour away and we were lucky enough to take in a concert while there. Relaxing on the enormous deck with a cocktail or in the hot tub was pure joy after a day of hiking and sightseeing. The pretty village of Evergreen with its great restaurants and shopping is right down the road and the picturesque lake in the center of town is a perfect spot for a day of kayaking, paddle boarding or peddle boating, and there's golfing right next door. Simply terrific!"

  • Mountain Top Escape

"What a perfect place from which to explore the Evergreen area. We hiked close by spots and ventured down to Garden of the Gods one day. Evergreen is a fun town with good shops and restaurants. You are a close drive to lots of choices. The house was a perfect place to end our days with a glass of wine watching the sunset. Sunrises were spectacular too. I would suggest 4-wheel drive. Enjoy, enjoy! Thanks Michael."

  • Beautiful fall colors getaway

"As recent first time empty nesters we decided to visit our youngest daughter who just started college in Boulder Colorado this fall. Luckily we found The Canyon House online. What a find We stayed 4 nights and were able to visit our daughter in Boulder twice. The fall colors from the house were just as advertised on Michaels listing absolutely spectacular. The house is clean, quiet and secluded on a dead end road exactly as advertised, and has everything you need. Great place to grill out on the deck with a mountain view. You do want to take Michaels advice an bring your groceries before you arrive because it is 7 or 8 miles to the store.. We really liked the idea that if we cleaned up before we left we got or deposit back and our deposit was returned the day we left. We plan to visit our daughter often and will defiantly return to Canyon House Thank you Michael Will & Mabel. Hays KS"

  • Wonderful Vacation!

"We were a party of 6 (three couples) and this home provided ample room for privacy as well as large living areas for hanging out as a group. The house is very well maintained, very clean and comfortable. The owners were not present during our stay but Rebecca was very kind and responsive when we called with a few questions. The scenery from the living room and dining room windows is just beautiful! We traveled for shopping and sight seeing most days but spent the late afternoons and early evenings outside on the deck. We enjoyed watching the hummingbirds and made sure to fill the feeder when it was empty so they wouldn't leave looking for a meal elsewhere. There was also a beautiful red-headed woodpecker who occasionally came to drink. There were deer in the front yard one evening and deer directly behind the house on another day. My brother-in-law befriended one of the chipmunks (who he named Theodore). Every day when we arrived back at the house Theodore came scampering out of the wood pile in search of more sunflower seeds. We had a wonderful vacation and would recommend this home for families who enjoy sight-seeing, or those who just want a place to stay and relax. Thank you for sharing your home with us!"
