  • This was an outstanding spot to stay!

"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The house was great! It was a little quirky in it's layout, likely due to the way it was built into the hill, but that added to the charm. Everything was clean and well-maintained and/or updated. The deck on the front was a great place to enjoy morning coffee, watching the sun come up over the hills. Beautiful views. You can always hear the river running across the road, and the park makes for a great evening walk with paved walkways. Most every review has mentioned the stairs. Yes - there are some stairs to climb. We admittedly were breathing a little hard after hustling our luggage up, but after the first trip, learned to take it a little easier climbing up. If you have limited mobility, this may not be the place for you, but on a fitness scale of 1 to 10, I'm definitely not a 10, and could manage it quite easily. The bedroom was plenty big and the bed quite comfortable. Location-wise, it was a little far for us to walk down to Pearl St, so we drove in. Part of that was due to some unseasonably hot temps while we were there. If we were slightly more ambitious, the bikes that are provided would have been a good alternative. Speaking of the heat, there are a couple of air conditioners, which helped with that heat! The only potential negative, and this is more of a trade-off, is the distance down to Pearl St. For many, that walk may not be an issue at all. And the benefit of being on the edge of town is the feeling of seclusion and being in the hills. The owner did a good job of keeping in touch before our stay, and contacted us during our stay to make sure things were good. I'd highly recommend it!"

  • Excellent, solid built cabin with genuine wilderness environment, yet every convenience of home.

"We have traveled extensively throughout the world and have stayed in many cabins, chalets, and lodges in very remote places. The Mountain Chalet was a delight for us - genuine seclusion with no other house in sight, quiet solitude, perfect for writing and relaxation, and game viewing right in the yard and on the property (elk, deer, fox, bird life and various small game). If you are looking for a secluded mountain cabin, off the grid yet conveniently located so you can travel to a small town for a nice meal in minutes or to the city in less than an hour, this is the place for you. We would highly recommend the Mountain Chalet as a place for deep relaxation and vacation. Steve and Shirley Taylor, Pratt, Kansas (5/2016)"
