  • Comfortable Cabin In The Woods

"We've stayed in a number of VRBO properties, and had our two retrievers with us on this trip, so we were looking for a "pet friendly" home for our best friends. The dogs loved the 3 acres of wooded property and the Blue River right down the hill. As mentioned, the kitchen is well-stocked with different condiments in the fridge, spices, pots/pans, utensils, etc. So, you won't need to worry about coming up short on food prep, or breakfast/lunch/dinner. The well water is cold and tasty, you'll have plenty of hot water for laundry and showers. We played a number of games that are included in the cabin as well as tossing the horseshoes out in the back yard. Since we had six in our family having the privacy the bedrooms and bathrooms offered was nice as well. We really appreciated that it was so close to Breckenridge as well. We'll be back again!"

  • Adventure and Beyond!

"Where to even begin... Our families had an incredible time at the Blue River Lodge! It was exactly what it was described as and more! We had tons of fun playing at the house and hiking around outback as we did taking short drives to find short and long trails to hike with kids. We talked with several locals to find more amazing places to go such as Kite Lake, Paris Mill/Lincoln Falls, etc. We explored a lot on our own and were so excited to find so many places to explore close by! The owners are wonderful and very easy to talk with. The home was equipped with plenty in the kitchen, for the kids, chairs outside, etc. Very clean and plenty of room! We hope to come back! Meanwhile, we will suggest this home to everyone we know! It was truly a wonderful home!"

  • Comfortable house, disappointing surroundings

"The house was comfortable and reasonably clean, family and kid friendly, owners very helpful and responsive as others have said. It is an easy 5 minute drive to Main Street. However, I can't recommend this house for a summer stay relative to other similarly priced properties in the area. This was our first trip to the area. For others who may be unfamiliar, be sure to verify location. The location area shown on the listing (west of Hwy 9) is not accurate. The house is east of Hwy 9, actually outside the radius shown. Even if you have the street address, some mapping sites show it correctly and others don't. This matters because many of the houses in the neighborhood do back up to the creek and/or woods. This one does not; it is an interior lot surrounded on all sides by roads, other houses, and power lines. Previous reviews paint a perfect picture, but we didn’t find it to be altogether accurate. One review says, “Mountain biking/road cycling & hiking were right outside our door,” which just isn’t true. The only way to get to anything from the house is on Hwy 9, which is not safe to walk or bike on. It is not “nestled in the woods” as others have described. The first thing you see when you pull off Hwy 9 is someone’s work trailer advertising their flooring business. The next thing you see directly ahead is a power pole with power lines going four directions, obstructing what would otherwise be a nice view of the hills. Right next to the pole is an old plow truck parked in someone’s front yard (typical of the neighborhood). The house faces this intersection. That and the highway noise 50 yards away prevent it from feeling very secluded. Frankly, I felt like the neighborhoods adjacent to Main Street Breckenridge felt just as "woodsy" and "mountainy", and they have better views and are within walking distance of both town and trails. Again the owners have done a great job and are good hosts, which has been well documented by others. I just think there are lots of other houses in the area (at least one even in this neighborhood) that are just as nice and offer more pleasant/explorable surroundings, not to mention actual mountain views and/or walking access to trails, etc., with lower nightly rates. This may be the perfect place for you, just be sure to ask plenty of questions and don't take all the photos/reviews for grante"

  • 70th Family Birthday Party

"Oh my goodness, Marty could not have been any easier to work with thought the whole process.. Our family rented both sides of this beautiful property. It was perfect for our family celebration. My brother's family stayed on one side and our family on the other side. It's a beautiful location with no traffic on the front of house which relieved any concern for little ones leaving and entering the property. There is hiway traffic in the back. The close location to Breckenridge was awesome, but the seclusion from the busyness of Breckenridge was so relaxing. Great property that I recommend without reservation."
