  • We loved the house. It is very comfortable and well appointed.

"The location gives you a sense of privacy and remoteness in the forested mountainside yet is but a few minutes drive into the great shopping and dining of Breckinridge."

  • 40th Anniversary Family Vacation

"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the cabin. Everything was clean and well stocked. Couldn't think of anything that we needed. It was close enough but yet secluded so the kids could be kids without bothering anyone. They loved the playroom. They would have been happy just to stay at the cabin but they had so much fun exploring Breckenridge. Thank you."

  • Great location - you won't find a better cabin in this valley for the price!

"Loved the house and location. 20 minutes to Breck, 20 minutes to Fairplay. The cabin is very well laid out, and the concrete floors kept us from worrying about kids and dogs tracking stuff in. The loft is big enough use the futon and put a couple of kids on an air mattress. The kitchen had everything we needed - coffee maker, toaster oven, microwave, utensils. There are neighbors, but they're not too close, and the trees make it feel very private. For those interested in fishing Montgomery Reservoir - the description said that it is within "walking distance", which is technically true, but don't think you can just cross the street and throw a line in (like I did). If you want to fish, enjoy the waterfall, or hike up Wheeler Pass, you will need to get to the north side of the reservoir, which means that you will be walking the roads about a mile to get to there, and if a car passes you, you'd be covered in dust. The south end of the reservoir is very close, but I believe fishing is not allowed off the dam. Fortunately, you can hop in your car and be at the parking area in about 5 minutes. Fairplay Beach is about a 25 minute drive from the cabin, and is a great place for fishing especially with kids, but when we were there in June, the road to the parking area was washed out, and the walk in is not easy - it's either down a very steep hill, or over rocks that you will need to be very careful not to turn an ankle on. Blue Lakes is just on the north side of Hoosier Pass, on the way to Breck - not sure how the fishing is, but just hanging out with a picnic lunch and enjoying the view is worth the trip. Our cell phones did not work at the cabin - I received a couple of texts while at the cabin, but could not respond, and even though I showed one bar of signal, every call I tried to make dropped. Owner's responded very quickly to any communication. The ONLY issue is that there weren't enough mirrors. Only one bedroom has one. There is a mirror in the upstairs bathroom, but there's only a pedestal sink, so there's nowhere to set hair dryer or curling iron down (a shelf in the corner would be a big help). And with no mirror in the master bedroom, I had to bring my stuff down to the 1st floor bathroom which has a nice big vanity and mirror. Between myself, my sister-in-law, my mother, and my 15 year old niece all needing mirrors, it was like playing musical bathrooms to all get showered and ready in the mornings. Overall, we loved it and had a great time!"

  • Home Away From Home Getaway

"Our family has come to stay here every year for the past 5 years, and we love it! The Irish Rose is very much like a home away from home, except this one has awesome views all around . The house is well stocked so you don't have to haul everything from your own home to stay here. There are lots of trails for hiking and four wheeling, and lots of wildlife. Several old mines are in the area and are neat to explore. Fairplay and Alma are close by if you need to pick up something. If you need anything, Kay is available to assist you in any way. If you are looking for a good place to get away, this is it!! Thanks for sharing your home with us!!"
