  • Rustic cabin good for large or multiple families

"We enjoyed a relaxing stay at the cabin in mid-October. The view was excellent and was exactly as advertised. We enjoyed the large deck and quiet surroundings. It is in a great location if you are interested in spending time in Grand Lake or Rocky Mountain National Park. I would recommend this to large or multiple families as the home is large and there is good separation between the bedrooms. I would give the property a 3.5 or 4 just due to some deferred maintenance and housekeeping issues. On a side note, if you are visiting Grand Lake in the off season make sure to stock up on groceries ahead of time. Many of the restaurants were closed and the (very small) grocery store closed at 5PM each day."

  • Tranquil

"We have a family of 6 so it's not always easy to find affordable places to stay. This far exceeded our expectations. Was well kept, quiet, and the fully stocked kitchen was great. We loved sitting out on the porch at night and taking in the scenery. With a 9, 10, 12, and 13 year old this place was exactly what we wanted with our trip. There's no wifi so it forced the kids to put down the electronics and enjoy each other and the outdoors around us. We will definitely be looking to stay here again when we make our next trip! Big bonus seeing that Pat and Spike have roots in Iowa where we are from, so really enjoyed doing business with a fellow Iowan."

  • The Perfect Fall Vacation

"This place feels just like home from the moment you walk through the front door. Anything and everything that you would have in your own home is there and waiting. It is beautifully decorated, yet very, very cozy feeling for such a large home. The gas fireplace in the family room was very welcoming and perfect for taking the chill out of the early morning air. The fire pit on the deck made the evenings a pure joy. The kitchen was first class all the way with every gadget you can think of available. We only utilized the master bedroom and it was fabulous, a very comfortable bed that made it hard to get up in the mornings. The home is quite capable of handling large family reunions, but it was the perfect romantic getaway for two. Do not miss the opportunity to see a sunrise from the top of the hill out back. The view over the lake and surrounding skyline is breath taking. There are some great hiking trails within walking distance of the home that were absolutely beautiful. We had the perfect fall vacation, temperatures in the 30s at night/ 60s in the day, a dusting of snow on the mountains, and the Aspens, Cottonwoods, and Willows were in their peak autumn colors. John and Becky were such a pleasure to work with and really made us feel very welcome in their home. We look forward to returning for another great vacation. 5 Stars all the way!"
