  • Best vacation we've ever taken

"We had THE most wonderful week at Haller Hideaway! The cabin was exceptionally clean, simple but oh so cozy, and we did not want to leave! The Steamboat area is absolutely beautiful in the fall. The town is lovely in every way. And the people of Steamboat were the friendliest we've ever met! But our time at the cabin topped it all. The setting is easy 15 min drive to town. It's perfectly secluded, very quiet, and we loved having coffee on the porch and watching our pups run and explore the field. The view from the cabin is just magnificent. The kitchen is well supplied for all cooking needs. Great bed and linens. My husband loved the use and efficiency of the wood stove in the living room. Bob and Nancy were great to work with. We can't recommend this highly enough. And we most certainly, can't wait to go back."

  • Great location, excellent amenities, good price point

"This was our first stay in The Phoenix complex and we were very pleased. The condo was great for our busy families and the hot tubs and pool were not to be missed after skiing and riding all day. The clubhouse also has a sauna, rest rooms, pool table and TV area. Probably one of the best features is the location. It was just a short (3-4 minutes, even with kids) walk over to strap on our skis for a short run down to the gondola base. They have a shuttle that runs frequently over to the Gondola Square transit center, but I think it's probably a longer walk than using the access trail. I do wish they'd let the shuttle drop people off at the Thunderhead lift to allow the option of skipping the morning gondola line. There's a little strip mall just down the street with a small grocery and restaurant, which was very convenient. The shuttle is on call to drive you into town for dinner, as well, which was great. Staff was friendly and helpful and provided lots of information prior to arrival and departure. We'll be back! A hint on accessing the slopes in you're staying in this condo: walk in the Ptarmigan Lodge driveway right across from the upper Phoenix driveway and veer around to the right as you get close to the lodge. Look for a small shed on the edge of the parking lot. The official access trail is right behind the shed. You can also access this trail from the street, but it's a bit more of an uphill walk: cross the street and walk uphill. Just before the first corner are some utility/electrical boxes. The entrance to the access trail is just downhill from there. At the end of the day, take the Christie Peak chair to the mid-point. After you get off of the chair, keep left a bit staying under the gondola. Look for the gondola tower with the criss-cross support beams (the others that are visible are all solid). The entrance to the access trail is right by it. So easy!"

  • Great location and unit

"We loved the unit very nice and close to everything. Kitchen was well equipped and bed are very comfortable. Amazing views this is why we rented the unit. It was great to sit on the coach and watch what all is going on outside. You can see the whole hill from different angles since your on the corner. Units is totally updated and very nice decor. Only negative I have is on first day the plug in hall bath wasn't working and also TV in master we called and they said they were going to fix but never called back so everyone had to do their hair in master bedroom bath. We never called back cause it wasn't a big deal for us. Luckily it didn't impact our stay but some people it could have been a big problem. Only reason I didn't give a lower star for this was the unit was so nice and I'm just hoping this was a one time mishap."
