  • Great for a Girls 14er weekend!

"We enjoyed our stay at the Firehouse flat for a girls 14er weekend. There were a few things the property could use improvement on. The listing should read "sleeps 8-10," because there were only beds for 8 adults to comfortably sleep. Since the place was cooled with mountain air, ceiling fans in the bedrooms would be a nice addition. Also, screens on the windows would be great. The flat was ready for us earlier than expected, and we greatly appreciated that. The location was in the newer part of Buena Vista, and very nice! We enjoyed walking to the nearby shops and Eddyline Brewery. Overall, the flat was great for our group of friends."

  • Excellent Location!

"Spent the weekend here with a friend. Could not have asked for a better house to stay in. The proximity of the river and the back deck really make this place special. Close to town but yet just far enough away to disconnect. Endless activities whether it winter or summer are easily accessible. Definitely a place I hope to visit again."

  • Great place to experience Colorado's beauty

"Our group of six stayed for two nights and found the house to be spacious and very clean. Most of the windows in the house showcase stunning mountain views. The Tomcat Ranch has an interesting history and Mike and Holly will kindly give you a tour of their property when they stop by to welcome you. They also gave us a heads-up about the bear and the moose that were recently spotted near the house. The property is private and secluded but with easy access to Buena Vista. We spent our time hiking, fishing, relaxing, and hanging out by the campfire. The “yard” area is large with a gazebo, charcoal grill (bring your own charcoal), and a big fire pit perfect for roasting marshmallows and keeping warm on a chilly night. Firewood is provided. The kitchen is equipped with plenty of dishes, pots and pans (though the non-stick are well past their prime), cooking utensils, and even spices and oils left by previous renters. You may want to bring a bag of ice if you think you’ll need more than two tray’s worth as the fridge does not have an icemaker. The dining table seats six comfortably. The bathroom has plenty of counter and storage space for six adults, though the tiny half bath (without a locking door) did come in handy. As someone else mentioned, the house’s decor is very outdated. The carpets, some furnishings, and the not-so-fresh bed linens left over from the 1970’s and ‘80’s all need replacing. I think with a little bit of cosmetic effort, this house could be transformed into a cute and modern mountain chalet. Oh, and reliable wi-fi is provided but there is no cell service at the house."

  • Loved this beautiful mountain getaway!! Just what we needed!

"We loved everything about this place! We wanted to get away for a long weekend and relax and this was just perfect! We would return after a day of hiking and relax on the deck! A great place to grill dinner while listening to the roaring river and enjoying the sunshine! Why go out to eat when you can stay right there and relax! Thanks Jeff and Deb for a very nice, cozy place to stay!"
