  • Base camp

"The Willis retreat is the perfect base camp for exploring the area. We hiked many trails and visited the surronding towns of Alma, Fairplay and Beckenridge. Unseasonable weather brought rain, sleet, hail and snow to the surrounding peaks. Low temps in the 30's made the wood burning stove nice! We really appriciated the fact that we could use the DVD player, we rent properties all over and can never use the DVD player! I know I am digitally illiterate... The dart board was entertaining as well. Kona loved the yard."

  • Beautiful secluded cabin

"We arrived Friday afternoon and did not leave until Sunday at check out! What an amazing location and cabin! We saw a family of moose right when we arrived! The hummingbirds were there every 10 minutes almost! You can hike to Gemini Peak right from the cabin and we did and it was amazing! We only saw one other couple the entire hike! There is a cool abandoned cabin we found on our hike as well! Was super relaxing and just what we needed! The fishing was wonderful also! A very wonderful piece of paradise nestled in the mountains! We felt like we were the only ones for miles! Thank you for sharing your amazing home with us!"

  • Too high for us flatlanders

"To high for comfort ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Nice place but definitely off the beaten path. Beautiful home and great views, but be vary cautious if you are a flat lander. This cabin is at 10,665 ft. My wife may dog and myself all got altitude sickness. We were so bad that we left after 3 days and had to go down to Denver. I wish this was stated in the info. We go to this area about once or twice a year staying between 9,000 and 10,000. That extra 600 made a big difference. The other issue we had was with the management company. It was stated on the contract that " We are not responsible for issues with your vehicle or the snow but only for making sure the snowplower plows the driveway( this may not be immediate but he will come)" This did not happen. When we arrived there was 5-6 inches on the sloping drive with a large snowdrift in front of the only open garage space and covering the walkway to the front door. We called but no one came. What we found out was the contract ran out with the person doing the plowing and the management company did not want to deal with it."

  • Comfortable High altitude escape from the desert

"We enjoyed our time at FairPlay. The cabin is very large and set up well for large groups also. On arrival there was a minor inconvenience. The owner immediately responded and quickly addressed the issue in a manner exceeding expectations. Nice and cool."
