  • Great home with great location!!

"We rented this home for a "spring break get away" and it was perfect! It was an enjoyable walk to downtown Salida. The house was very comfortable and tastefully decorated! The beds were great, well stocked kitchen easy to cook in. If it would have been summer or warmer weather we would have loved to sit and relax in the great backyard. B, D, & T"

  • Relaxing!

"We had a very relaxing weekend at this property. The location of this house is great for walking to restaurants and shops downtown, hiking and biking trails and river activities. The house has plenty of space for four to six people. The owners were very responsive to emails and made the process very easy. Great weekend getaway!"

  • Well-crafted cabin - Finland Designers

"Dean Roberts is a humble host that will give-you-the-key-and-let-you-be. The overall experience was pleasant and the cabin has all the basic essentials necessary for cooking in the kitchen, watching TV, staying connected with the WiFi, or sitting on the expansive deck gazing at the pasture and foothills in the distant. There are plenty of local attractions in Chaffee county. We hike Mount Antero and drove our 4x4 Tacoma up to timberline - what a fun trip. There is also the hot springs which is nice to visit or the less popular Cottonwood Hot Springs down in Buena Vista. The other nearby town of Salida is filled with art galleries, restaurants and a few coffee shops. A newly opened wine bar at the junction of Poncha Springs, named "Vino" is exquisite with a good local wine selection and reasonably priced tasting. They also have chocolate covered potato chips if you want to try something different. Life is what you make it, as someone once said, and this cabin has what you need. Keep in mind, although it sleeps 9 people, the loft is only accessible by a ship's ladder designed by Thomas Jefferson (really cool) and there are four beds up in the loft. So you will be able to hear everyone else. It was quaint for just the two of us (me and my wife, Prudence). There are horses on the property and they are beautiful to look at too."

  • Cozy, yet spacious; luxurious yet rustic; close to everything, yet seemingly secluded . . .Perfect!

"The owners have obviously put a lot of thought into the renovation of this little cottage down to the last decorating and functional detail, like instant warmth from the heater on a cool fall day, great water pressure, a sumptuous bath mat under your toes when you step out of your shower, and the kind of fluffy bedding that makes you think twice about getting out of bed in the morning to enjoy all of the great activities this area has to offer. If you happen to ban cooking from your vacation list of things to do, like we did, the best breakfast in town is a short walk down the road to Patio Pancakes. If you'd rather enjoy the sparkling river running by, the grill is just outside your back door, with stream-side chairs and tables on the lawn umbrellad by the towering cottonwood trees. And the host offers coffee, tea, and, yes, even real Half&Half in the fridge for that decadent touch. As a decorator, I always think about how I would design things differently, but here, hardly a thing would change. Lovely cottage; quality stay; book it if you can!"
