  • A lovely Thanksgiving getaway in Colorado's picturesque high country

"We had a great time at this idyllic location - it's truly a beautiful spot. The home is generously proportioned for a large group; we especially loved the open living/dining/kitchen area and the quietness of the upstairs bedrooms even when the downstairs crew was noisy! The home is older but it's very comfortable - it's time for some new towels and bedding...everything was adequate but really showing it's age. New windows would help keep the cold out/warmth in - but that would undoubtedly be a hefty homeowner expense and may be hard to justify not living there. The window coverings do help tremendously and the rooms were plenty warm and cozy, the windows were just frost covered on the chillier mornings. We had a great time here and wish all future travelers an equally wonderful time at this home...our only "glitch" was the lack of info on how to get into the house on day 1, but a quick call to the owner got us right in! South Fork (2 miles) and Del Norte (16 miles) both have nice grocery stores; if you want Walmart go to Alamosa (48 miles) or Pagosa Springs (43 miles). Cell phone service was fine for all but those who had T-Mobile. We enjoyed feeding the stellar jays and magpies peanuts on the deck, fishing in the river (caught and released a 12" Brown Trout), walking around the neighborhood, hiking area trails, as well as making day trips to Pagosa Springs, Creede, South Fork and Del Norte to see the sights. A week was just long enough to do nearly everything we had intended to do on our vacation."

  • We would happily do it all again!

"I chose this place so we would be close to the ski area and not have to worry about significant driving should it snow. Well I chose wisely b/c it did snow...a lot. So our ten minute drive to the ski area was 18 minutes instead! We were a group of 8 friends on a ski weekend from Denver. This cabin fit us perfectly and everyone loved it. The cabin is well appointed and modern; plenty of room for all of us to move around, store our things, cook together and simply hang out. Both showers can be going at the same time...plenty of hot water and pressure. The hot tub was awesome after a fun day playing on the slopes. The beds are comfortable and the linens soft and of good quality. I have 3 suggestions: - a few more extra blankets in the cabin as there was only 1 and we could have used more (good thing 2 of my guests brought bedding just in case); - another frying pan for the kitchen...we needed it; - specific directions to the cabin on the website...if they are there, none of us were able to locate them....left at MM 177 and you're there! Everyone agreed that the cabin was a gem and a great idea rather then staying at a hotel. Thank you!"

  • Fantastic location, clean and nice cabins

"We had a wonderful stay. Close to Wolf Creek Ski, and with everything minus food provided it was perfect for our group. The cabin(Champoluc) was very clean, lots of space for our group of 11 to stretch out and my kids enjoyed the sleds to play with provided in the shed!"
