  • A Great, Short Escape!

"After a rough week I was looking for someplace close just to get away for one night. I had come across Hillside Cottages a month or so ago, and it was in an area I didn't know well. When the opportunity presented itself this past weekend, I packed my black lab Rosie and Mom (not necessarily in that order) and headed to Hillside. It was more than what I expected. Such a lovely little bungalow, with everything you could possibly need. Had a great hike with Rosie in Venerable/Comanche Forest, and can't wait to return and explore more! Thank you! Gail C."

  • Property was clean and impressive

"Loved the various balconies and patios to get several different angles at the mountain view. From the master the morning sunrise was breathtaking and the home had all the essentials to enjoy some snowed in time :)"

  • Much needed getaway in the perfect location!!

"Definitely recommend this place for a secluded getaway with beautiful scenery. To start with we spoke with Shelly on the phone. She was very helpful with any questions we had and worked with us on a last minute reservation. We flew into Fremont Co airport and drove the beautiful 1 hour drive through the Royal Gorge in to the cabin. There is another airport just south of Westcliffe for small aircraft but did not offer rental cars (Silverwest Airport). The cabin was easy to find and very secluded. No other homes were visible from this cabin. Mountains were a great view to wake up to every morning from the upstairs loft. The upstairs balcony was also a great place to view all the stars at night from the clear sky! Cabin was clean, well decorated, and setup great for multiple uses. Was plenty of room for our family of 4 but probably could have handled a family of 6-8 easily with all the fold out couches and futons. Board games and tons of DVD movies to watch while relaxing around the wood burning stove. Everything you need for cooking meals in the kitchen, very well stocked, including outdoor grill. We did a hike on the state property that is a short walk directly behind the property. All of your essentials for food, laundry, etc. are just a short drive away (about 10-15 minutes) in the quaint town of Westcliffe. Deer and turkey came right by the cabin every day and did not seem to be scared away by us. One of the other reviewers on here made mention about having to run the dishwasher prior to leaving. If I stay at a cabin I expect to clean up after myself a little, it is not a Motel 6. Do not let this worry you. You will not be disappointed with the property. The location and cabin itself are excellent. We look forward to staying here again in the future!!"
