  • FANTASTIC STAY!

"My husband and our three children stayed for two nights at Buffalo Sunrise Lodge. The house is spacious, well-kept and lovely; included two bedrooms, two full baths, washer and dryer and a kitchen with anything you may need. The deck on the front of the house was perfect any time of the day and overlooks the lake/gazebo in Green Mountain Falls. The town of Green Mountain Falls is a little village and is incredibly charming and friendly. We enjoyed eating at the Pantry (delicious breakfast!) and the Blue Moose for live music and dinner just a short walk down from the house. We also hiked from the house to two nearby waterfalls and the view from the top was amazing! Couldn't have asked for a better family vacation, and we hope to come again to Buffalo Sunrise Lodge! Would recommend for families or a girls/guys trip to anyone. Nan was friendly and responsive - everything we needed was provided to us in the home. Thank you!"

  • Exceptional base for local activities, not very secluded

"Lisa the owner was extremely easy to work with, which was a pleasure. The Twin Lakes area is beautiful, with many 14ers nearby. There are also three lakes in the area for you to try your hand at fishing. Carl at the general store will sell you worms and tell you where to fish. You should plan to bring groceries with you, or purchase in Leadville on your way to the cabin. The Twin Lakes general store has snacks, beer, soda and fishing gear. There is an inn/restaurant across the street from the general store if you want a prepared meal. The cabin is nice, with a walk-in shower in the main floor bedroom. This is handy for a less mobile person, as all activities at the cabin (including the deck) are on the main floor. There are just two steps up into the cabin. The cabin is about 300 yards from highway 82, so there is road noise and you can see passing vehicles through the trees when out on the deck. The small fire station is approximately 400 yards from the cabin, and during the first day of our stay they were running a noisy pump or compressor for a big chunk of the day, which took away from the peace and tranquility of the mountains. The cabin is elevated above the highway and the town, and you get a fantastic view out of the front windows. We did get somewhat used to the road noise after the first day. There is a very fun rope swing on the property, which was a delight for us all. Per Lisa's suggestion we walked/hiked the Interlaken trail, which is about a 5.5 mile roundtrip; nice views. This trail is along the south side of the eastern-most lake. You may want to get your picture taken next to the sheriff's car in town. I think that deputy has been on duty 24-hours/day in the same location since 2004. -Note that VRBO has recently started charging a "Service Fee" to renters. This additional charge will probably have me look for another method of renting in the future."

  • Loved our Cabin in the Woods

"Perfect cabin for our first ever Colorado Vacation. It was everything we expected and more. The location couldn't have been better -- easy access to all the wonderful sight-seeing attractions nearby. The kitchen was fully furnished and even though we planned to cook/grill, we never did. Our 25 year daughter swiped the upstairs so the husband and I had the bedroom downstairs. Oh well, closer to the bathroom that way!! ha Enjoyed watching a momma deer and two babies on a daily basis. I know the sign says "don't feed the wildlife" but that's really hard to do when the momma deer walks right up to the deck and with those pitiful eyes, begs for a small treat !! By the way, she really liked fig newtons !! After long days of walking, it was nice to relax in the evening and put on a couple movies. Very nice variety. A big thanks to Lauren with Red Door Vacations for all her assistance in helping with our reservation -- smooth and easy. Once again, thank you for a wonderful stay in your lovely cabin. Hope to visit again in the future."

  • Comfortable home away from home

"Rented this house for the weekend of the Leadville Heavy Half. It all worked out perfectly. The house had plenty of room and was great for pets, hard surface flooring and great backyard. The home was clean and the beds comfortable. The caretaker was very friendly; we talked with him about Leadville for quite a while. Bonus is that the house backs up the one of the cemeteries, which may sound like an odd bonus, but was fascinating for evening walks. We always enjoy visiting Leadville and this home is a great choice."
