  • Great house, location, and owners

"House was a nice size with plenty of room and modern appliances. We had 6 people stay and on one night invited extended family over for a game night. Plenty of room to accommodate them. House is in a great location within walking distance of the lake and our favorite hike (slide rock). The backyard was very relaxing with entertainment provided by chipmunks , hummingbirds and deer. The owners really went above and beyond what was expected. Besides giving us great tips on things to do around the area, they gave us sunflower seeds to feed the wildlife and let us use their grill one night to cook burgers. I highly recommend this property."

  • Great Trip and accommodations!

"We had a great stay here!!! Damian was very much in contact and available via phone. Just the right size for my husband and myself. It was clean and up to date. We saw a neighborhood fox regularly as well as other wildlife. The lake is a short walk away and once there a beautiful hike around was amazing. Fish were jumping everywhere! Wish we had brought our fishing gear. No cell or internet allowed for serenity from the busyness of life. How refreshing! The kitchen was fully stocked for easy meal prep. The BBQ place just off the interstate in Colorado City was to die for, and we're from Texas so that's saying a lot! We played games outside on the picnic table and enjoyed the fire pit as well. One situation that one might consider inconvenient is that the main bedroom is a loft which made it a bit loud to rest if someone was downstairs. There is a half bath in the upstairs loft and a full bath on the main floor. The washer/dryer was convenient too. The beds were comfy and the lower floor has a quiet space with a bunk bed. The living room has space for a max of 4 people to sit which worked fine for the two of us. Bishop's Castle and Mission: Wolf are a must see. Mission: Wolf is a bit tricky to get to as there are no signs to indicate where to go exactly so once your about ten minutes up the dirt road at the three road fork, go STRAIGHT towards what the sign says is toward Westcliffe. Don't make the mistake we did by going left. FYI- Wed. and Sat. have guided tours and are the wolves feeding days. For the price and peaceful mountain experience close to Texas, this cabin was just what we were needing for a peaceful getaway. We would stay here again when in the area. Thanks to you Damian for allowing us to stay at your lovely cabin! :) ~The Andersons"

  • Great!

"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at your cabin. The setting was peaceful and beautiful. The windows in the cabin were great. I would have given it a 5 but there was no shower as was stated in the advertisement. We would definitely stay there again!"

  • Elk Haus Hunting Review 2016

"We were a 4 person hunting group during the October rifle season. The Elk Haus accommodations exceeded our expectations. Clean, spacious, and more than we could ask for during a hunting trip. We were also very successful with the hunt. We filled 1 Bull Tag, 3 Cow Elk Tags and 1 Buck Mule deer tag. Saw plenty of animals. It was nice to have the opportunity to process our meat at the Cabin or take a quick trip into town for processing. Got a chance to meet and visit with the owner, Cameron and enjoyed his insight and stories of the property."
