The gardens have festivals and celebrations throughout the year including special events during the Azalea and Camellia seasons. Another wonderful place for a walk is the New Hanover County Arboretum. There are seven acres of land filled with local plants that exemplify what is best grown in southeastern North Carolina. The koi pond is a fun place for children to feed the fish and offers a beautiful backdrop for a family photo. The kids will also have a fun time in the children's garden with its miniature cottage. Those who enjoy seeing roses will appreciate the different colors featured in the gardens.
