  • Better than the photos

"The photos do not adequately capture the unbelievable views from this house and the pristine nature of the inside. When I was researching crested Butte, I could not decide whether to stay in town or on the mountain… This house is right in between and allows you to access both quite easily . It is very close to the recreational path that goes between the two and my teenagers and I walked the path often both ways. The owner is very attentive and responsive. There are lots of guidebooks inside with things to do, hikes to take, and places to fish . We were there over July 4 and the view of the fireworks from the yard of the could not be beat. There is a nice back room which served as a second living room allowing the teenagers to spread out a bit. Great place. Great views. Clean. Kind owner."

  • Incredible Crested Butte Enhanced By These Accomodations

"My annual Ski/Ride trip strayed from Summit County this year to incredible Crested Butte. As the coordinator of this annual, indulgent affair, it is always my responsibility to find our accommodations and make it happen. I think I got lucky with the opportunity to work with Kimberly when booking. She spent several minutes on the phone with me walking me through the layout of the house, the town, the mountain. I felt like i knew her and was very appreciative of her time. And then I think I got lucky with the place. The house was perfect for a larger group of ski-clicking, snowboard riding, snow-surfing. knuckle-dragging, back bowl drawn adults who tend not to spend too much time sleeping or in our accommodations. This trip we didn't stray far from that, but the house made it nice to come back to and for a very comfortable stay. The location couldn't be beat--basically on the same block as the bus stop to Mt. CB and then just blocks from the world famous Elk Street. The house was perfect size and exceeding all expectations with how nice it was (maybe too nice for this crew). And Crested Butte..... I could take another 1500 words on the trip, the people, the mountain, the food.... and how I got lucky in Kimberly, in 620 Maroon, in CB....but then I realized about day two...It's CB! and it's what you should expect in what really is a gem in the Rockies. So instead of taking 1500 words, I'll simply sum it up...I can't wait to get back!"

  • Home away from Home

"We were in Crested Butte for our son’s July 16 wedding and found Wild Iris to be perfect for us (my husband, me, our daughter and her husband). Because of the wedding, there were a number of family members and friends staying in different locations, including in Mt. Crested Butte. The house is very close to the main stop for the free shuttle that runs between Crested Butte and Mt. Crested Butte, so it was easy for people to drop by our house. It is only a block off the main street, Elk, which has a number of restaurants and shops. The Wild Iris location, however, is quiet because it does not have commercial establishments near it. It also is very close to the local grocery. Basically, once you arrive at Wild Iris you don’t need to use your car unless heading off for a hike or event that is out-of-town. The house has a nice historic feel to it, has some flowers around, and is a charming place to stay. The living room, kitchen and dining area are combined and open onto the deck and small fenced yard so it doesn’t feel cramped at all. The house included some nice, home-like touches such as a book on local hikes. Some places we’ve stayed clear everything out so you have to buy salt, pepper, etc. These were at the house, along with various spices, laundry soap, etc. Presumably this varies depending on the last rental, but it was nice to have them. We also liked the fact that our daughter was able to bring her elderly dog along. Overall it is a nice house in a great location and a fun place to stay. We found the owner and the property manager to be very helpful. Also the pictures and description are accurate (minus the snow, of course -- we were there during wildflower season!)"
