  • Thanks Dean!

"Had a great time with our first ever vrbo experience. This place had absolutely everything we needed for a great getaway. The house was spic and and span and equipped with all the necessities. Drove right to the place with the owners directions. It's only a couple miles to the cute little town of Dolores and McPhee Reservoir, which was perfect since we came to fish. There was plenty of room to park our boat including a circle drive through. Had trouble with our boat motor and were grateful to find expert help from Stan at Doc's Marina. The boat inspector, Craig at McPhee greeted us with a smile and tons of info on the lake. The fish weren't biting but, we are planning a return trip next spring when the smallmouth bass fishing is supposed to be amazing. The reservoir is absolutely beautiful, and Huge. Very little boat traffic, mid August. The antique stores in town were a real treat too. Check out the pizza and live entertainment at Dolores River Brewery. Loved the small town atmosphere, friendly local folks and the perfect retreat tucked away in our own 35 acres of cedars and oak brush. It's a sweet little home with big views, lots of windows, bright and cheery. Thanks for making this place available, Dean. You have thought of everything! Really appreciate the affordable price! Didn't bring our dogs this trip, but sure appreciate the option to be able to do so!"

  • A great get away from busyness!

"It was a peaceful time away from a busy life! Stunning views right out the sliding glass doors onto the deck were enjoyed and sunsets were marvelous. The place was well appointed and we had a great time hiking right from the unit. You will want to bring some groceries as the small market nearby is not adequate. We LOVED being more secluded and not in the midst of a busy resort or mountain town. Cascade Village is pretty close to the highway (550) so you'll have some road noise. If we decide to head back this way, we would not hesitate to book this unit again!"

  • Nice Property

"We stayed three days after first visiting Monument Valley on a road trip. The house met all our expectations. It was spacious, attractively decorated, and stocked with everything we needed. The yard is large and the area is very peaceful - just what we were looking for. We saw a deer walking in the yard while we were sitting on the porch the first evening we were there. We walked to Mancos State Park from the house and hiked all the way around the lake. The weather was mostly great, although it rained on the second day while we were in Durango. Linda stopped by and was friendly and had some good suggestions. My wife and I loved the area and we would definitely consider staying here again."

  • Relaxing Oasis in Perfect Location!

"We recently had the pleasure of spending 30 days at the lovely La Plata Mountain Cabin. Our retreat truly was one of the most enjoyable and relaxing vacations we have ever had. - The cabin is beautifully crafted, with high ceilings, natural light, and charming fixtures. You can tell it was built and is maintained with pride. It was also spotlessly clean. - The location is perfect – private hideaway in the mountains but with 10 minute access to town and centrally located between Cortez and Durango. - Every attention has been paid to make sure everything in the cabin is comfortable and well-appointed. We felt AT HOME but better from Day 1 to Day 30. - Beds were very comfortable, shower was hot and water plentiful, and all appliances worked great. - Our hosts, Rollin and Robin, were delightful and very informative. - The porch was our very favorite place to hang out – enjoying the daily visits by the deer, including two sets of twin fawns. At night the stars were breathtaking. We had another couple join us for several nights and the cabin very easily accommodated four people. We each had space but could hang out together; talking, cooking, or playing cards. It was much better vibe than having separate hotel rooms or cabins on a cruise ship – we spent time and made memories. Our daughter also visited with our three grandgirls during our stay and we opted to also rent the bunkhouse for those nights. The grandgirls were overjoyed – they were so excited to be staying in their own “tiny house” in Colorado. The bunkhouse is truly a marvel in efficiency; functional and also very comfortable. It is also beautiful, with cool touches like the kitchen window created out of a pick-up truck windshield. THERE IS SO MUCH TO DO within easy driving distance of the cabins. There is a wonderful horse-riding stable just down the road and the National Forest is only 5 minutes away. In Durango we went river rafting, enjoyed Purgatory Resort, hiked some of the Colorado trail and took the amazing train to Silverton. Mesa Verde is less than 20 minutes away. Pagosa Springs has hot springs, waterfalls and river trails. There was fly fishing, kayaking, and mountain biking just short drives away. Arches National Park was an easy day trip along with the San Juan Skyway, Black Canyon of the Gunnison, and Monument Valley. Truly, we cannot recommend the La Plata Mountain Cabin enough – it was so hard to leave this magical place!"
