"I recently returned from a great trip to Lake City, Colorado, where I enjoyed several days with friends at the “Magnificent Mountain View Cabin”. I have been there before, and this time did not let me down one bit. The cabin is roomy, comfortable, up to date and well stocked with supplies, and has the MOST BEAUTIFUL VIEW in the county!!! From the deck you can see beautiful mountains and trees, several deer grazing below the deck and in the front of the cabin, a rainbow on nearly every visit, and several kinds of birds nearby. In and around town you can take several day trips out to various sites; the pass that goes by several old mines and mining caves, the beautiful river running along the pass, mountains that are majestic, and the aspen beginning to change colors. While we were there all of us felt like the color of the aspens were actually changing in front of our eyes. The drive around the lake also has a special beauty to it! . The town of Lake City is no let down either. Every weekend there is some special event, and this year there was a craft show. It was tempting to see all of the handmade items, and several items came back to Texas with us! Oh, and the trip to the ice cream shop was another special event that we could not pass by!!! There are other shops that are waiting for you to come see what they have for you, too!!! All in all a great trip, and a great place to visit, and hang your hat up for a few days in the "Magnificent Mountain View Cabin”!!!"

  • Home away from Home

"We were in Crested Butte for our son’s July 16 wedding and found Wild Iris to be perfect for us (my husband, me, our daughter and her husband). Because of the wedding, there were a number of family members and friends staying in different locations, including in Mt. Crested Butte. The house is very close to the main stop for the free shuttle that runs between Crested Butte and Mt. Crested Butte, so it was easy for people to drop by our house. It is only a block off the main street, Elk, which has a number of restaurants and shops. The Wild Iris location, however, is quiet because it does not have commercial establishments near it. It also is very close to the local grocery. Basically, once you arrive at Wild Iris you don’t need to use your car unless heading off for a hike or event that is out-of-town. The house has a nice historic feel to it, has some flowers around, and is a charming place to stay. The living room, kitchen and dining area are combined and open onto the deck and small fenced yard so it doesn’t feel cramped at all. The house included some nice, home-like touches such as a book on local hikes. Some places we’ve stayed clear everything out so you have to buy salt, pepper, etc. These were at the house, along with various spices, laundry soap, etc. Presumably this varies depending on the last rental, but it was nice to have them. We also liked the fact that our daughter was able to bring her elderly dog along. Overall it is a nice house in a great location and a fun place to stay. We found the owner and the property manager to be very helpful. Also the pictures and description are accurate (minus the snow, of course -- we were there during wildflower season!)"

  • A Fun Fall Break with spectacular views from the Taco Bell House.

"It was so nice to meet you, David. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us on the kid's fall break. We were blown away with the architecture of the house as well as the unbelievable views from the rooftop. We got some great shots on our camera of the elk in the distance. We enjoyed hiking behind your home to the waterfall and stream. The dogs thoroughly enjoyed your fenced backyard and all of the trails around your home. We had plenty of room in your home, the kids took one side and we took the other. You had everything we needed, especially in the kitchen. We cooked almost every night and had s'mores by the fire. You are so close to everything like Telluride and Ouray where we enjoyed shopping, dining and hiking to the waterfalls. We will definitely come back to the Taco Bell house. It will be a vacation that we will never forget. Thank you."
