  • Mostly pleasant stay but a little misled...

"My husband and I came up from Albuquerque for a relaxing getaway from our little one. The condo was exactly as described and from the pictures, EXCEPT: there are no "incredible views of Engineer Mountain" as stated in the amenities section of the listing. The views are on the other side of this row of condos. We were quite disappointed. The balcony looks out onto dumpsters, tennis courts, another row of condos, and an aspen and pine covered hill. You get a small obstructed view of Grayrock Peak if you sit on the left side of the balcony. Other than that we had some inconveniences that were due to the complex: outdoor hot tubs were broken, water pressure in condo is terrible so there was no way to fill up the big soaking tub and have it hot, the tv signal on some channels was pretty bad. But we made the best of it: we went to the Trimble Hot springs and soaked and got massages one day, we didn't really want to watch tv anyway (the Internet was good enough to handle watching an episode of something on Netflix on one of our devices and that's all the tv we watched), and we took the hike up the path from the condos to the water tanks and got our incredible views of Engineer Mountain, Potato Hill, and sweeping landscape. We highly recommend that hike: apart from the initial ascent, it's pretty easy and just winds along the creek through the aspen forest. Very pleasant and with stunning views through the bare aspens. There might be fewer views with aspen foliage, but it would still be pretty and pleasant. Overall, it was a nice stay and we would recommend it to people looking for an affordable getaway, but I do recommend making sure the listing states what you actually get, including a picture. None of the pictures offered are of the actual view from the balcony. They are views from around the complex. If the owner isn't going to replace the mattress or at least put a topper on it, I think the listing should say: "bed mattress is very firm", so that people with trouble in that area know to avoid this condo or bring along something for themselves to make it more comfortable. Quality sleep is important, especially on a "relaxing getaway.""

  • Family Ski Vacation

"Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: LOVE this condo. This is our 5th year to Durango and our 2nd time to rent Black Bear 90. We visit once a year right after Christmas with a couple other families. Unit 90 is BEAUTIFUL and clean. It looks brand new and the décor is super cute. We cook majority of the time we are there, and the unit has enough pots/pans to cover your cooking needs. The unit is right across the street from the ski resort which is ideal. You will be given a number for a shuttle that will pick you up at your door step and drive you across the street to the resort. There is a designated area devoted to Black Bear for pick up. The shuttle is quick to pick up from the resort, but we always call when we are walking down from the slopes to make them aware we are ready for a pick up. We have stayed in town before, but if you are plan on skiing I highly recommend staying on the mountain and in Black Bear 90. Great vacation and great condo."

  • What a great room and location!!!

"We travel to Durango every year, and always stay at Cascade Village because it is close to Purgatory Ski Resort. We stayed in Cascade 903403 this year, and absolutely loved the unit. The owners were very accommodating for our group and made the stay just wonderful. We look forward to next year--thanks Debra!!!!"
