  • Beautiful, comfortable home in wonderful location.

"We held a cousin's reunion at Smith tavern, six women who grew up together spent the weekend. This house was cozy, clean, comfortable and a perfect place to gather and visit. We sat on all three decks, played board games in the dining room, and had long, late night visits in the lovely parlor. Each bedroom, even those not pictured were clean, pretty and very comfortable. The kitchen was more than sufficient. Working with John through the rental was a pleasure and his son, Dan, who greeted us, was very gracious. If I am ever in the lovely Litchfield area again this is where I would stay."

  • Great week at a very cool cottage!

"We had a fantastic week at this cottage. The location was convinient and very quiet. Most of the neighbors were not there during the week. Deck was large and ideally suited for just hanging out and reading. Although still in June, the water was quite warm and the kids spent lots of time swimming. We also enjoyed the two stand up paddle boards. The property has a nice dock and it handled by 18 ft sailboat quite well. The publick launch ramp is straight across from the cottage and very convenient. Wifi worked well. The cottage was comfortable and well appointed with all the necessities. The weather was nice and the ceiling fans were more then enough to keep the place cool and comfortable. The owner Jill was very helpful and provided some good suggestions. Take an evening to check out "The Village" restaurants in the center of Litchfield. We recommend the open faced steak sandwich!"

  • Wonderful!!

"We stayed at Flying Pig over Christmas with our two children and it was nothing short of magical. The property is beautiful and the house has such charm. Plenty of room to spread out. We built a fire each night and we're able to easily entertain a group of 12 adults and 6 kids one evening. We hope to be back soon!!"

  • Great for a family gathering

"We rented Clark's Landing and the attached Betty's Boathouse for the weekend of my niece's wedding. We had a delightful stay there. I am closer to 60 than 50 and most of us were closer to 80, but it suited us well. I think a family with kids would also have a great time. The dining/living room area is lovely. It looks out on the lake and attached porch/deck. The kitchen is well equipped and we were able to make a lovely pasta and pork tenderloin lunch on the day we arrived. It is a spot conducive to sitting and watching the sky, the lake or chatting quietly. outside. Some of the 50-80 crowd even got into the lake on a chilly October weekend! We didn't end up using it but there was a grill outside. The tv worked, we actually turned it on for the debate and the wifi was good. I believe we were the first guests so everything felt spotless and new! The queen and king beds are comfortable and the rooms are lovely. The one thing I did not understand until I got there was the the bunk bed and two singles are basically at the top of the stairs. There is no door to close or privacy when sleeping. We were fine with this as we came for wedding and family. I think it would be great for kids but less great for those of us in our 50s, the beds are not super comfortable. We had a 17 year-old for only one night and luckily she took the top bunk!"
