  • Class reunion week

"My husband and I rented this house for a week to attend an EHHS class reunion. Two classmates joined us for the weekend of the reunion, for which most of the activities took place across the lake at Angelico's. We found the house to be as advertised and quite comfortable. The views out of the back of the house were spectacular, and because of the season the lake was fairly quiet. It was great to sit on the deck or dock with my book and a glass of wine. The weather was cold enough that we did not take advantage of all the water toys ( two kayaks, inflatable boat, pedal boat, or trampoline raft) but I imagine they would be very popular with children and adults alike in better weather. The house was adequately stocked with dishes, silverware, and pots for our group. Might want to,add some wine glasses. We did have some trouble locating the bed linens as they were all in the dryer which according to the owner should not have happened. Very convenient to stores, restaurants, etc. We enjoyed exploring old haunts. Overall a very relaxing week. Two extra pluses...the man who lives across the street (Jerry) plays fabulous guitar. It was a joy to hear. And, a classmate lived two doors away. We would certainly consider renting this house again."

  • Positive experience

"As expected after reading description and reviews. Dated but clean. Appliances and kitchen supplies were sufficient for our needs. Beautiful view from living area. Lots of space for my 2 kids to play in living area and yard. Residential area but feels secluded. Overall, we enjoyed our week long stay."

  • The cottage is cute and inviting. The yard is awesome, the view and proximity to the lake can't be

"This is our second year here and I can see it becoming a tradition. My sister and I were able to have our adults kids and spouses spend a day or two with us . It was the best time. We all enjoyed the lake ,in fact my 2 year old granddaughter learned to swim there. This cottage is a great place for family fun , catching up with each other and making new memories. I will definitely go back."

  • Just what we wanted, and expected !

"This lake front house was exactly what we wanted. We had searched diligently for all the features which we found in this property- true lakefront, a deck, a lake not too big, not too small, Fall colors, lots of windows for looking out on the lake, quiet neighbors, Kayak/boating opportunities, plenty of interior space, comfortable bed, dish TV, comfy furniture, fireplace, that cozy cabin feel, not too far from shopping and restaurants, and a friendly and helpful owner. The weather was quite chilly, rained a bit- even snowed for several hours, so we didn't get to use the boats or bicycles, but we knew that might happen in late October. Andover Lake is lovely. The property faces West for great sunsets. Sunrises were beautiful too, as the sun slowly filtered through the big tree on the edge of the property and made its way down the hills on the westward side - great photos. The kitchen was well stocked with condiments and cooking items. There was even some beer and soft drinks in the fridge ! Michael was very nice and answered a couple of our questions immediately while we were there, even gifting us with a wonderful box of local chocolates ! The cabin was clean and comfortable for our 5 night stay. Guests are asked to wash and dry towels and linens before leaving, but that was no problem at all (the washer and dryer worked great). I liked the motion detector lights at the front of the house. Coming in at night, they really help. We flew into JFK, rented a car, and drove the 2 1/2 hours to Andover (returning 5 days later). If we had it to do over again, flying from California, we would spend the extra to fly into Hartford and avoid the hassles with NYC and JFK. , but it was do-able and we did enjoy the scenery along the way. We made a couple outings and enjoyed a tour of the Nathan Hale Home nearby, as well as the beautiful Victorian homes on the hill above Willimantic. The whole area was very worthwhile exploring, which was one of our goals. Spend more time exploring the local area, not trying to see everything in New England ! Fall colors timing is an art. A storm the week before we arrived removed many leaves. Some trees were past peak and others had not yet turned, but we enjoyed the many trees that were in fine color. In conclusion, the lake front house was exactly what we wanted, where we wanted, when we wanted it. Michael was the perfect host, and we recommend this place for a couple or a small family."
