  • A real beach cottage just as you might have imagined!

"First of all, anytime you stay in a home away, one's stay often depends on the responsiveness of the owner. Elly was just great. She responded to my many questions while getting settled. She provides the firewood for the firepit...well used by our crowd of 6 people with guests from other cottages. The cottage is small and the three bedrooms take a bit of organizing. Initially, the big bedroom had no bureau or closet. Using some ingenuity, we "borrowed" a bureau from one of the other bedrooms which had shelves and places to hang clothes. While the kitchen is small, it has everything you need and most of our time was spent either on the beach (where there was a picnic table, chairs, firepit, and another small table) or on the inside porch. The location is GREAT and parking was wonderful with 3 spaces and more behind the garage. There is no dishwasher but I found this not to be a problem. Beds were very comfy. It was very quiet even with neighbors next door. We had three couples and while it was close quarters, we all got along fine. I would recommend this lovely beach cottage to anyone. And Elly, thank you for making our stay great. Glad we finally got the WiFi right. Our problem, not yours."

  • Perfect Little Gem of a Guest House

"This was my first experience using HomeAway and I couldn't have picked a better property. Madison is the epitome of "pretty" New England and this property, located on a gorgeous street, a half block from the ocean, did not disappoint. The home was spotless and is filled with art which compliments the lovely furnishings. The living room has a massive fireplace and is well stocked with books, games, and puzzles. The bed is super comfy and the bath is stocked with super plush towels. The kitchen is amazing. I had no trouble preparing dinner for my family. Every kind of utensil you could need is provided and there's tons of counter space. There is also a laundry closet with stackable washer and dryer which was so very handy. There's a second bedroom, which I didn't use, but the closet contained lots of beach gear. Since I stayed over Christmas week I couldn't take advantage of a lovely little enclosed patio with table and chairs and a Weber grill. Must be pleasant in warmer weather. Gini, the owner, lives in her house across the driveway...thanks for the wreath on my door, Gini! She is friendly and helpful and did check in to see whether anything was needed but was not at all intrusive. Anyone choosing this property is in for a treat."

  • Cozy family Christmas

"We chose this house because of location in CT. We had easy access to some very lovely New England towns while we were there. We had a great time visiting New Haven (walked the Yale campus) and drove over to Mystic CT one day and had lunch at the famous Mystic Pizza! This was delightful! The house is within walking distance to the seashore and also the charming downtown area with its delightful assortment of restaurants, shops, etc. We had a very large party at the house...6 adults and 4 small children and we had plenty of room to spread out. We enjoyed the cozy family room and warm fires every day! The big dining room was perfect for our Christmas dinner. We enjoyed the hot tub outside every evening as well. The owner and property manager are very nice. As we came across some issues, they were responsive and fair in handling these. They even allowed us to "rumage" through the basement to find decorations for the Christmas tree we wanted to have. There are lots of toys and games and books on hand for all ages. The house is part of a very old (150+ years) historic district. So, even though it has been nicely modernized, it is a very old house. The kitchens and baths are all updated and the heating system worked very well. I would recommend this house for any group for any group or family that would like to enjoy a real New England setting!"
