  • It Worked for What We Needed

"We needed a place to stay for five nights that was close to Hartford and would allow us to make some day trips in the area. We were also looking to get a place that was more affordable than most of the properties nearer to the coast. We had need for accommodations for four adults. Pros: Quiet, roomy and well stocked kitchen for cooking. Good Wifi and easy to connect. We used the Culligan water machine for drinking and coffee water as the tap water is from a well and was cloudy with a taste. Cons: Downstairs was a bit musty, but we really didn't use it except for the laundry. We had a bunch of ants in the kitchen for the first 3 days. After cleaning a bit and running the dishwasher, they were gone. Some of the ceiling fans and several lights did not work. However, AC units were fine."

  • Perfect home!

"Great Location, great home! We were in town for a family function and this was the perfect home for the 4 of us. Kiki and Robert were great to work with and so friendly. We will definitely be back."

  • A Wonderful and Memorable Family New Year Celebration in a Beautiful and Welcoming Home!!!

"Our family enjoyed a wonderful getaway to East Haddam. The lake house is spectacular!!! What a nice venue to bring in the New Year. The house is beautiful and at the same time, comfortable and inviting. We enjoyed the view, our hours of playing board games, cooking our New Year's Eve dinner, a fire and some wine outside on a warm New Year's Day, endless family pool tournaments, movie nights, and watching the ball drop at midnight on the big screen! The listing description is spot on and the photographs very accurately represent the various rooms and available beds. The house was immaculate and extremely well furnished and decorated. The views of the lake are abundant and awesome. Kirk and Lyssa are very nice people, live a short drive away, and were very helpful, accommodating, and easily accessible. We are a family of nine, with five adults and children ages 6 through 16. Myself and my family, my sister and her family, along with our mother have traveled together for several years and to various locations. We definitely recommend Kirk and Lyssa's lake house in East Haddam for families, such as ours, that truly enjoy spending time together in a welcoming and comfortable home with beautiful surroundings."

  • Wonderful riverside cottage retreat, VERY close to the U.S. Coast Guard Academy!

"Our family had a wonderful fall vacation staying at this adorable cottage. We sipped on hot cider and toasted our toes at the fire pit that overlooks the beautiful Niantic River. There are no homes across the way, and you truly feel like you are off the map! But you're not - excellent restaurants and grocery stores are 5 minutes away. It is also only 10 minutes from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy. It was such a relaxing retreat for our family to just be together! There is a cozy t.v. room and we watched lots of college football on the one rainy day that we had. It is charmingly rustic with genuine antiques and lots of history. It truly feels like you have stepped back in time while staying at this home. There are kayaks available, and even water shoes to use. I would not recommend this home for handicapped folks - bedrooms are all upstairs and the stairs are rather steep."
