  • Great beach cabin for everyone.

"Loved eating dinner on the screened in porch. Kitchen is spacious and well-fitted with all the tools you need to make a nice family dinner. Sidewalks for getting my to the beach or to DD for that early morning coffee!"

  • Idyllic, peaceful corner of CT

"We spent 8 nights at this perfectly lovely cottage and could have stayed much longer, maybe a few months. It is in the most perfect location, a large private lot right on the Housatonic River. There is lots of room to sit outdoors and admire the scenic river or stay indoors in the very comfy living area. Although it was 90 degrees most days, I was eyeing the fireplace and wishing it were colder. The bedroom was spacious, the bed very comfortable and the bathroom huge, housing a very convenient washer and dryer. Everything was very clean and in perfect working order. Kitchen was small but absolutely fully stocked. The nicest aspect of this house, other than the privacy and peacefulness, was that it was clearly a working house that someone lives in regularly with everything anyone would need to get along. We loved it to death and hope to go back, this time with our bicycles, for another week in fall or spring. It is a very beautiful corner of CT."

  • Wonderful and Peaceful

"This cottage was perfect for our vacation with three generations of the family. From my 70-something parents to my 2-year-old niece we all loved the cottage and especially the beach! The cottage was clean and well-equipped with everything we needed from beach toys to kitchen needs. John was so easy to work with. He answered all my questions, sent out a booklet with information and suggestions before we got there and fit us into his schedule both checking in and out without an issue. To access the home, there is a short flight of stairs - I have some mobility issues but was fine climbing them with the help of the railing. On the first floor is the kitchen/living area, a full bathroom with a tub/shower, and a bedroom. There is also a screened in sun porch with a lovely table where we ate all our meals and some lounge chairs where more than one nap was taken. The porch faces the beach/ocean and is a beautiful view. Upstairs is a smaller bathroom and three bedrooms. We all were comfortable in the beds. To access the beach, you leave by the backdoor and walk down a few steps and you're basically on the beach. There is a sun tent that is put up for you and you can sit under there or in the sun - whichever you'd like. The water was fairly calm and there were swimmers, people on paddle boards, and such all the time. The beach was NOT crowded at all - everyone stayed in the water in front of their home it seemed. My niece loved being at "Nanna's Beach" each day and playing in the water and sand. The community is nice - everyone drives slowly so you don't need to worry about kids, it's clean and quiet even with all the people who are there. There are kids who bring by donuts each morning - what a nice way to wake up! And, the ice cream man visits a couple times a day too. By our fourth day my mom was already asking if we could come back next summer. I certainly hope so."

  • A week to remember on Highland Lake

"The photos for this property do not do it justice. It sits right on the lake, at its quietest edge. When the sun rises in the morning, there is a wonderful pink glow to the sky. As the sun gets high enough over the hills to touch the lake, mist rises from the water. The start of the day was just magical, especially when one paddled out on the house kayak onto the calmest waters ever! Meanwhile, the house is very nice. The beds were quite comfy. The kitchen was fully operational and there were two refrigerators that let us stock up for the week. We entertained as many at 15 at a barbecue and ping pong table "tournament." There were card games on the second story patio and at the dining table, duck and fish feeding off the dock, floating on the tubes that came with the house, and lounging in the grass yard. Meanwhile, Marc, the owner was very attentive. It was a great way for an extended family to spend a memorable vacation."
