  • Perfect

"This was our second stay at Hyatt house. Our grown children and their families, a total of nine, fit in to the house with no problem. We have felt very much at home in the house from the beginning. The beach is wonderful for everyone, front screened in porch is the best place to sit anytime of day( my husband actually slept out there a couple nights and loved it), outdoor shower the best, I don't think anyone took a shower inside, the beds are comfortable and room for all at the dining room table. The kitchen may be small but we manage just fine and has everything you'll need. Only thing we missed was some seating in the back yard for barbecues on the grill. Also be prepared for a long walk from the driveway to the house when unloading or loading your car. A wagon of some sort would be helpful if you can fit one in. Don't forget to check out The Stand across from Lenny's. Good barbecue and an easy walk in the morning to have a cup of coffee and some yummy sweet bread or a great breakfast sandwich from the food truck. Not to mention the fresh veggies. We look forward to making this our annual family vacation spot. Thx Martin!"

  • Second time here was just a great as the first.

"We've already booked our third time (for 2017). Although we already have posted a review here, the house deserves another 5-star from us. As I write this, there are already 8 5-star reviews. The only reason there is even one 3-star review is because they reviewer was unable to book the house again for the week they wanted. It's simply terrific. Extremely clean, wonderfully comfortable, and very spacious -- especially the vast great room where we spent nearly all of our indoor time when awake. We are 4 siblings and our spouses and everyone always had plenty of comfortable places to alight. But even when you are indoors, the large panoramic windows let you enjoy the glorious view outdoors. But we come here for the outdoors, right? And Nanci and Chip have provided plenty of tables and chairs for relaxing and dining outside, and plenty of water sport equipment for playing. I really think they have thought of everything, from water shoes and beach towels to paddle boards and kayaks. The proximity to the beach and the water cannot be beat. Step out of the house, walk down the stairs of the sea wall, and you are there. Maybe 20 seconds if you're slow on your feet. And if you enjoy sea birds, the egrets, cormorants, terns, and gulls put on a delightful show from the rocky "islands" just a stone's throw off shore. We've rented the beach house beginning with the first year it was offered by Nanci and Chip. We sincerely hope they find a way for returnees to get first shot at renewing!"

  • Great Place

"Our families had a perfect week. The beach is perfect for small children at low tide and the house is close to all the stores and shops of Old Saybrook, but far enough away for peace and quiet."

  • Great for a family gathering

"We rented Clark's Landing and the attached Betty's Boathouse for the weekend of my niece's wedding. We had a delightful stay there. I am closer to 60 than 50 and most of us were closer to 80, but it suited us well. I think a family with kids would also have a great time. The dining/living room area is lovely. It looks out on the lake and attached porch/deck. The kitchen is well equipped and we were able to make a lovely pasta and pork tenderloin lunch on the day we arrived. It is a spot conducive to sitting and watching the sky, the lake or chatting quietly. outside. Some of the 50-80 crowd even got into the lake on a chilly October weekend! We didn't end up using it but there was a grill outside. The tv worked, we actually turned it on for the debate and the wifi was good. I believe we were the first guests so everything felt spotless and new! The queen and king beds are comfortable and the rooms are lovely. The one thing I did not understand until I got there was the the bunk bed and two singles are basically at the top of the stairs. There is no door to close or privacy when sleeping. We were fine with this as we came for wedding and family. I think it would be great for kids but less great for those of us in our 50s, the beds are not super comfortable. We had a 17 year-old for only one night and luckily she took the top bunk!"
