  • Historic, charming and a great property.

"We had family in for a wedding and the property was all that the VRBO site says it is. A great classy older building , solidly built with execellent bedrooms, meeting rooms. The kitchen is fantastic as it is all commercial grade and well stocked with utinsils and serve ware. It was perfect for our needs. If I was visiting Washington DC with family or a group, I would use it again. While the VRBO site says parking space for one car, I do not recommend that guests use the space. We had a minivan and while we got it in the parking space, we had less than an inch on each side getting thru the gate and less than six inches front to back. Street parking is recommended if you think you need a car ( you will need a parking permit at $50 ) or use Uber, Taxi or Metro to get around"

  • Five Star Basement Apartment

"We stayed in this basement apartment for a week in October. It sits on a residential street in the Shaw district, a few blocks from the convention center and about a mile from the National Mall. The apartment itself has one bedroom, a bathroom with a shower and stacked washer and dryer (a great convenience), a full kitchen and a living room with a sofa. There is plenty of space; everything has a neat and clean appearance. This apartment worked very well for my wife and me. We recommend it highly."

  • Very Compatible for Couples

"We stayed in the apartment for nine days while visiting family in the DC area. We have been frequent visitors to the DC area in the past few years and staying here was an improvement for the money we usually have to spend staying in a hotel. It was nice to have our own personal space and the access to a washer/dryer was a very nice addition. The owner leaves explicit instructions on how to operate each of the appliances. As others have mentioned, the bathroom is small, but functional. Perfect for average size adults. The apartment was cozy and comfortable and gives one the feeling that you are living in a nice DC neighborhood. We walked to several stores and restaurants in the area (the Giant store at 6th & O is terrific). The DC bike share station is 2 blocks away and is a terrific way to see the city. Lastly, we arrived at the apartment way past midnight and had some difficulty opening the lockbox attached to the iron gate. There is a sensor light that provides illumination, but it is very quick and shuts off quickly. Overall, we would definitely recommend the apartment and look forward to staying here again."

  • Great place in Washington DC

"I stayed 5 days in Washington DC on my own at Erling's house. I lived in the apartment on the first floor, which was very comfortable and well decorated. The location was convenient to get around in the city. There is a metro station 5 minutes away that enables you to go quickly to the main monuments and museums. Erling has been a friendly host with me. We had a breakfast and dinner together and he gave me a lot of tips to visit the city. I really enjoyed the neighborhood, which has a young and dynamic athmosphere. You will find plently of bars and clubs around if you want to go out at night. I will definitely recommend this accomodation to anyone willing to have a great time in DC."
