  • Wonderful apartment - great host!

"My wife and four kids stayed for 5 days. First up the host Jo is wonderful. She's great at being in communication, met us at the apartment and got us settled, left us a lovely welcome pack and was happy to do anything she could to help us. The apartment was as described in it's listing. It was very comfortable with a well stocked kitchen. Located in a lovely area, the apartment was very clean and towels and linen were all fresh. There was a small convenience store around the corner. We felt very comfortable. The only point I would mention is that it's a 15 minute walk to the Metro from the apartment which towards the end of our stay became a little exhausting for the kids so thats something to keep in mind but otherwise this is a great apartment and if we visit Washington again Jo will be our first call."

"The property is as advertised, very comfortable and well appointed... modern and very convenient for shops, restaurants and metro. Lots of fun restaurants on 11th, very trendy... The owners were very responsive when we had a problem with the cable.... excellent service, great place, we would recommend this property."

  • Great location! Quite charming!

"For the most part our experience was wonderful. It slept 6 of us comfortably and we liked being able to prepare some of our meals at "home". The location was great for trying all sorts of restaurants, super markets, and hitting the sights of DC. We felt very safe in the neighborhood as well. The instructions left by the owners were fairly easy to follow and the property was very clean when we arrived. The only issues we had with the property were as follows: 1) This is most likely for the winter months and dealing with snow, but it was quite disappointing to be greeted when we opened the door with a sign that stated to take off our shoes when entering or clean the floors during our stay. Again, not very tasteful, but also extremely dangerous. Someone could slip in their socks on those stairs and be seriously injured! 2) The pocket door to the bathroom really needs to be fixed or changed to a regular door. It was hard to maintains ones privacy. 3) Think about investing in some towel racks for the bathrooms. They are not difficult to install and would be helpful. 4) Being a 2 story apartment, we figured the water pressure and maintaining the temperature of the water might be challenging, but you might want to consider changing the faucet in the pocket-door bathroom and the kitchen. These are easy fixes and would eliminate the complaints written about in the past. The kitchen especially just needs a new head on the faucet. 5) We were left with only 2 tablets to run the dishwasher and then had to buy our own? These are things that are usually very well stocked when we have stayed at other VRBOs. We had plenty of toilet paper and hand soap, but would have loved some kleenex and other kitchen essentials (plastic wrap, sugar, bags). These suggestions would make your place even more charming and loved!"

  • Not fantastic, but did the job

"Overall this was a good fit for us--a group of 6 people who were attending a conference. There was one allotted parking place, but we never had any trouble finding a spot on the street for our other 2 cars. It was clean, but I would say that the photo is a bit misleading about the rest of the house. The photo shows a nice living area with a big television. The kitchen was also nice, but I stayed downstairs, in what obviously was previously rented out as an apartment. It lacked a lot of ambiance. The downstairs bathroom shower curtain had some mold on it. We had to hunt for clean towels which were not in the bathrooms, but in the dryer. I would recommend it--my complaints are pretty minor. I do have another complaint with the company that handles this rental. I reserved the house several months in advance. About 3 weeks before we were to check in, I realized that I didn't have the address of the house or information about how to get and return the key. I contacted the agency and they told me that I would receive the information a week before. I was told that they could send it right away if i wanted it, which I said I did, but it did not arrive early. I had a question about the stairs and they responded fairly quickly, but when I asked another question about access to the wi-fi, I had to ask three times before it as answered. I also had to do a lot of hunting to find a phone number."
