  • Forget Disney. This is the REAL Florida experience.

"Spent a week with all our children and grandchildren in this hidden slice of paradise. If you love nature and outdoor adventure, this is the spot for you! The house sits riverfront and is situated on a large swath of old Florida scrub land with palmettos, oaks, and even citrus trees. It's like staying in your own private park with privacy fences bordering on both sides. Plenty of room to run and play on the land, but where you really want to be is in the water! Rainbow River is an absolute treasure. If you've never been, you need to go. The water is as pristine as it gets. A snorkeler's / kayaker's dream. Honestly I didn't want to leave the river. Plenty of kayaks and tubes plus life jackets for all are provided. The house offers comfortable, clean, adequate shelter and basic amenities- everything you need is there. It's a no-frills kinda place, just as pictures and posts describe. The hot showers always felt great after a day in the river. Lots of room, seating, eating space and comfortable beds for all. The large covered carport is an added bonus for Florida thunderstorms that blow through - you can still hang out outside if you want. The campfires in the fire pit were a nightly event enjoyed by all. Stargazing, moon gazing, bird life galore! So grateful that this piece of old Florida has been protected and left wild for us all to enjoy. Teri is great and offered good communication before, during and after rental. Always available and accessible by phone or email. We would definitely come back to stay again at this property!"

  • Ladies Weekend Prayer Retreat (Best Ever!)

"This was our sixth year hosting our annual ladies prayer retreat with Ray and Dorothy. Here's why we come back year after year: #1 The home is unbelievably comfortable- by design. The signature of this prayer retreat is that each woman has her personal quiet time not just for an hour or two, but for the entire morning! Imagine 14-25 ladies with enough comfortable spaces to spread out throughout the house, yard, and dock so that each woman has private time uninterrupted by anyone else. And spaces comfortable enough to sit cozily and comfortably while sipping your coffee, looking at the beautiful view, journaling, reading the Bible, and praying for 3-5 hours! Only this house can provide that. #2 The beds are plentiful and better than most of us have at our own homes. Nothing second class here. Mattresses are new, pillow tops and memory foam. Many of our women have difficulties sleeping and they come back year after year because they know that they will sleep comfortably. Might as well mention the bathrooms also. They are plentiful, clean and new. No lines of women waiting to take their showers in the morning or at night. Most of the bedrooms have private bathrooms attached, but there are several full baths accessible from the common rooms as well. #3 The kitchen, living rooms, and dining areas can handle a crowd. We have teams of 4-5 women working together in the kitchen to provide each meal and there are enough counters and work areas so that they are not in each other's way. The fridge is huge- think food for 20 for three days- no problem! Ray and Dorothy are always making improvements and we enjoyed the new granite island counter this year. The dining room seats our entire group together. Once again- comfort is king- the dining room chairs are comfortable. #4 The view and the river are fantastic. The Rainbow River is one of the most well-preserved, natural and pristine resources in Florida. Sit by the fire circle (Ray had cut the wood and had it lit for us each morning), on the dock, or venture out on the pontoon boat (seats 10), tubes, kayaks, or paddle boards (plenty of each). If you never go to Disney you will have seen the best of Central Florida right in your own back yard. No need to turn on the 70" screen, but if you do, there's a DVD player and surround sound. #5 Working to make your event perfect is something that Ray and Dorothy take personally. I've run out of space- but believe me- they're the best! See you next year Ray and Dorothy!"

  • Very nice relaxing location. Beautiful scenery to enjoy everyday.

"Small, but big enough for two people. Great neighbors. My wife loved the hot spa and pool."

  • Perfectly refreshing!

"Great place to lay back (in the hammock), read a book (which I did...the history of Dunnellon) paint a picture (which I did....of the wood duck birdhouse), cool off on a hot summer day and celebrate a birthday! Loved every minute of it. We'll be sure to come back."
