  • Great spot for the whole family

"It was a pleasant surprise to see the location of this house. It was at the end of a canal of mangroves, not too far of a boat ride to the ocean to do some snorkeling or to go further out to do some fishing. It was also a short drive to John Pennekamp State park. The house was beautifully decorated and had plenty of room for the 12 people we had in our group. The kitchen was great with large fridge and new washer and dryer that we used quite a bit! The pictures of the pool does not do it justice, it was against the house and stay shaded on one side and very clean. They had 2 kayaks that came with the house so we were able to enjoy time kayaking through the mangroves (we found manatees, a mom and 2 babies). The kids (and adults) really enjoyed having a pool table and ping pong table when it got too hot outside. There were 3 bedrooms upstairs (one master with an on suite and the other 2 bedrooms shared a bathroom) and also 2 bedrooms downstairs. My only negative would be there were no bathrooms downstairs, so whoever slept downstairs had to walk upstairs to use the restroom! I would, without a doubt, stay here again. Key Largo is definitely not as 'busy' as a little further south like Islamorada, but still have some great stores and restuarants to visit. I suggest going to Bayside Grille to watch the sunset and sit downstairs, they had great food and the bartenders/waiters did an amazing job keeping up with the crowd. We were taking this trip to spend time together as a family and the location of the house and activities we could do without leaving the house made that possible. Raisa and her husband were very kind in making sure we had a great stay. Thanks again!"

  • Best Condo of all!

"My wife and I have stayed in this Condo for the last 10 years mostly over Thanksgiving! It is always clean and neat and well stocked with the amenities you need! Great view of the beach from the Kitchen, Living room, Master bedroom and deck. The pool is always clean and refreshing with an outdoor shower. Highly recommend to anyone staying at Cape San Blas! Will be back again next Thanksgiving!"

  • Lovely Condo

"The condo was exactly as described, everything was thought of whether you were dining in or just sitting down and relaxing with ample books, DVD's and game. The condo was lovely and clean and felt home from home, the welcome pack was very informative and also covered the local supermarkets, restaurants and shopping malls. The resort was very clean, people were friendly. The condo although in a quiet location (which we wanted) it was a reasonable drive for all attractions. Would certainly recommend. The owners also provided plenty of information prior to our arrival."

  • A Good Place to Stay in a Good Location

"My wife and I, our daughter and their two children stayed at the Shipwatch condo for 5 nights the last week of October and are happy to add another 5 star review. The upstairs, downstairs format worked well for us, but some folks might find the downstairs a big dark. The condos on the upper levels of this 5 story building are all on one floor and the bedrooms have views as well as the living room and dining room. On the other hand, for us the quiet and the dark encouraged the grand kids to sleep in which meant we had a couple of quiet hours to drink coffee and watch the sunrise from the balcony. Amelia Island Plantation covers over a thousand acres and is anchored by the Omni resort center. The Omni is three buildings up the beach from Shipwatch along a winding road of live oaks dripping with Spanish moss. Scattered around the acreage are several restaurants and recreational opportunities for the kids like a mini-golf course, kayaking and fishing in the ponds. We didn't try any of these things because the kids wanted to concentrate on playing in the pool or at the beach and we cooked in every night. The ready access to the pool was another plus. From the downstairs (bedroom) level, you step out the door and down a short exterior stairway, cut under the building and you are at the pool. You can't get closer and you don't have to use the elevator, which friends in the upper level told us was really slow. To get to the beach you go around the pool on a boardwalk, cross a narrow fairway (look to your right for golfers, and then up some stairs and over the dunes to the beach. Great beach. At the end of October the water was still 75 so the kids were in the waves a lot. But the pool was their favorite. It is heated. I'd say to at least 80 and it is big, with three large semi-circular sections that make it look a little bit like Mickey Mouse's head from a certain angle. The section closest to the condo building is about 3-4 feet deep, the middle section is a bit deeper, and the section toward the ocean is about 8 feet deep. Lots of nice lounge chairs around the pool. This time of year there was good sun from about 10 am until about 3:30 when it went behind the building. But there was still good sun at the beach for a couple more hours. As others have mentioned the condo has all the utensils you will need, nice furniture, a big balcony and lots of tvs. Biggest plus: a great, responsive host/owner. This is not an agency managed rental."
