A great Month at the Beach

5 of 5
Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was more than happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We stayed at Beachside Condo 101A for the month of March. This condo has a large living space and two big bedrooms. It is well equipped. It has a designated paarking spot with lots of space for guest parking. The pool although small was not crowded. Lots of shopping nearby and restaurants. Appreciated the free long distance calls back to Canada. Property management company was very friendly and helpful.

Nice condo in a great location

4 of 5
Great location, very close to the beach, restaurants, bike rentals, bakery, and so on. This unit is an "inside" unit, so the only windows are: one in the bedroom facing Gulf Blvd and the sliding glass doors on the opposite end facing the beach. No windows along the left or right sides, though that didn't bother us. The beds very comfortable and the furniture in good shape. There's a George Foreman style electric griddle on a pedestal out on the balcony. It worked great for hot dogs, burgers and Reubens. There is a TV, but it's quite old with a poor picture and muffled sound. There are no premium movie channels, though that wasn't a big deal, as we brought our Roku box and plugged it into the router which is sitting on top of the TV. If you want to do the same, you should know that there is no HDMI port on the TV, only the old style composite and component jacks. We had to buy an adapter ($38 at RadioShack) as we only had an HDMI cable for our Roku. As others have mentioned, there appears to be no sound insulation between the floors. We heard every step from the unit above. Overall, the unit was clean and in very good shape, with the exception of a couple of major items. First, there are two sliding glass doors (with a fixed one in the middle). This is nice for those days when you can turn off the A/C and open the sliders. Unfortunately, one of the two sliding screens was missing and the other one had no wheels so it was difficult to slide open. The other item, and my biggest complaint, was that when we received the check-in instructions around a week before check-in, it included the following note: The thermostat CANNOT be set below 72°. In most cases, this will cause the coils to freeze over, rending the system inoperable. If the thermostat is set below 72°, guests will be responsible for repairs and/or loss of their security deposit. Having made the reservation a year in advance, I was quite upset to receive that information a week before check-in. To pay this kind of money for a place in Florida and be told when it's too late to do anything about it that the air conditioner doesn't work properly borders on misrepresentation in my opinion. It left a very sour taste in my mouth which is a shame, as this was otherwise a good rental. As it turned out, 72 was fine during the day, but not cool enough for sleeping—for me, anyway. There is a ceiling fan in each bedroom, which helped.
