  • Perfection!

"We spent a weekend here and rented both sides of the house with another family as a base for scalloping. We could not have been happier and will definitely be back for another weekend soon. On Sunday 2 other families also joined us just for the day and the outside area was awesome for hosting both the adults & kids! We had 7 kids in total running around using the pool, swing set & sand box and they all had a GREAT time! The house is on a wide canal and is a short idle out to the channel. The scallop fields were about 30-40 minutes out depending on how fast your boat is and there is also a sandbar area only 10 mins or so from the house that was fun to hang out on. The scalloping was excellent all weekend and we had plenty of space to clean & cook them right there in the back yard. My family & I (2 adults, a 4 year old and 2 year old) stayed on the bigger side - Unit A I think. Its GORGEOUS! The kitchen is BEAUTIFUL and was a great place to cook a big group meal. The bed in the master is a tempurpedic type adjustable bed that was more comfortable than our bed at home! The 2nd bedroom on that side has a full and a pull out twin which was perfect for our kids. There is also an extra half bath on that side which was convenient. We kept the doors open that connect the 2 sides so it really just felt like a 4 bedroom house. Don't hesitate - this place is AWESOME!!"

  • Quiet and close to nature

"My boyfriend and I spent 5 days here - Dec 30 - Jan 4, 2017. We loved it!! The backyard is directly on a small waterway that connects to the Weeki Wachee River. We took advantage of this and went out one day. We watched a river otter play, saw wood peckers, raccoons, herons, ibis, and LOTS OF MANATEES! I would start each morning by walking into the back yard and just taking in the sights and sounds - so peaceful! The house is in a great location for restaurants and parks near by. Its clean, well-furnished. With a full kitchen we bought groceries and had a few meals in. I highly recommend staying here and would love to go back."

  • Perfect location if you want to see manatees!

"The location was perfect for me and my husband, right on a canal off the river. We had an amazing experience paddling out to Hospital Hole as the sun came up. The river was quiet, peaceful and we were able to paddle along with seven manatees there (two babies!). We spent about an hour there by ourselves, such a fun experience. We paddled out another time and checked out a restaurant on the river. There are a lot of restaurant options within 10-15 minutes away. The house was ok and could probably use some updates and more comfortable, newer living room furniture. The bed was comfortable and the sheets were super nice. We were a little turned off by the neighborhood at first but ended up being very quiet and relaxing."

  • We loved it!

"We'd seen the great reviews but I was still pleasantly surprised by the setup. The beach was amazing at sunset, we were able to capture lots of great photos. During the day when the tide was out it felt more like a bay but the convenience of the small beach was great with little kids. We kayaked around the entire island in about 45 minutes with the advice of a neighbor. Joe was a very gracious host and we'd love to go back one day. Its really nice to go on a trip where you feel more like a guest than a tourist. To top it off we saw a pair of sandhill cranes right next door on our last day."
