  • pleasant place to stay

"Pieces of Eight was just what I was looking-for - an economical place to stay with the basic needs for home-style living. The motels in the under $100.00/day category are mostly dumps and you only get a bed(s) and a bathroom. I have visited this area many times over the years and places like this along the beach are pushing their prices too high. Our accommodations were small, but clean and we had everything we needed there,: a bed for two in a bedroom and a pull-out couch in the living/dining area. The fridge and stove worked and we had all the dishes, pots and pans we could use as well as small appliances. The TV was small but where you sit is so close it doesn't matter :-) and there was a working PVR there so that I could record any shows I wanted to watch later. The two air conditioners worked well and were more than enough to cool-off this space....plus there were three ceiling fans to help move the air. Water pressure was good. I liked the courtyard and the shade that the trees provided. There was a BBQ available in the second courtyard, along with a table and chairs....unfortunately it was so hot the week we were there that I couldn't bear to use them! The only thing that I suggest is that Steve have some ventilation installed in the bathroom, to pull-out all that moisture from people having a shower. That will help the a/c unit in the bedroom do its job without working 'over-time'. Owner Steve was around every day working around the place and always available for help or just a talk. If something like a light bulb needs replacing when Steve is not around and you don't mind doing it yourself, just go to the laundry room and get one; there are supplies in there. It was handy having the beach right across the street. There are few good restaurants within a reasonable walking distance or a less-than-five-minute drive, and two really good places for ice cream. So, if you don't require all-new hotel-style furniture and amenities or a large living space, Pieces of Eight is a good place to stay at a reasonable price."

  • Great beach rental

"This place was perfect for us. We were getting married at the beach pavilion just down the street and needed a place that was close and allowed us to bring our two dogs. When Shonn found out we were coming for our wedding and had a lot of down payments due, she worked with us so we didn't have to pay the whole thing up front and left us a bottle of champagne upon arrival which we thought was a nice touch. The condo was quite large for a studio and we found it to be more than enough space. It also had a fenced in yard which was great for the dogs. The bed was very comfy and we loved the decor. This is in a great little neighborhood."

  • Lodging here made our vacation extra comfortable!

"This Condo is better than described! My family stayed here for a week and had the most comfortable and relaxing vacation. Condo is very clean and nicely decorated. My kids loved having their own room and bathroom. The view form the balcony is amazing. This place had all the necessities needed to make it home away from home. We spent every evening watching the sunset from the beach. It was only a five minute walk. Utilizing the beach toys in the closet made the beach much more enjoyable with chairs, umbrella, sand toys, floating toys, even a caddy to haul it all. The beach was not crowded and felt somewhat secluded. This place is a hidden treasure! It was nice to go back and forth to the condo to recharge after being at the beach all day to eat, rest or cool off. Nice restaurants and shops around. Grocery stores were close so we cooked a lot at the condo. My family would stay here again and recommend this place to everyone."
