  • TYPICAL KEYS RENTAL-EXPECTATION MET

"Heading for our long weekend away we were a little nervous considering the serious drop in positive reviews. We have stayed in the keys many times. This trip was two couples(early 50's) enjoying a long holiday weekend. Dividing the cost between the two couples meant we paid less than a hotel room and had the plus of a full kitchen and laundry facilities and room to spread out. The a/c was plenty cold. The hot water was plenty hot. The cable tv was fine. The beds were comfy. We didn't encounter any issues with the house at all. The house was cleaned when we arrived, in fact the cleaners came back and asked if we wanted them to fold the laundry they had left in the dryer. Yes the house needs a deep cleaning like the berber carpeting is deeply stained. However, we go to the keys with kayaks in tow and after a day on the water, we come dragging into a house with sand and muck and wet, so we wouldn't like to stay in a place that we felt like we had to be totally tidy in. We also were able to bring our dog along, another plus. We couldn't have sat outside in July as we would have just been eaten alive by the mosquitos, but we were able to use the grill one night and it was fine. The dock is showing signs of aging, but the hole is intentionally part of the dock, to allow for mangroves growing there. We never felt unsafe walking on it. Yes the boat is old, but we weren't bothered by it. We go to the Keys to mostly kick back, relax, kayak, and fish. I can see how if you were going to stay at the house as a major part of your time there, that you could be disappointed, but clean and functional works fine for us as long as we aren't paying a premium price. The salt air is so hard on property in the keys, to keep a place in top shape requires expensive regular maintenance that probably would eat up most profit. So, I'm sure it's a balancing act for an owner to figure out what to invest in and what to let go. Also we did receive our security deposit back in the time stated. Would we stay there again? Yep."

  • Hidden Paradise !!!

"This place is amazing!!! From the moment we arrived the private aquarium started the excitement. We spotted Parrot fish, Lobsters, Stone crabs, Starfish, Horseshoe crabs, tons of Mullet and on our last evening a visit from a baby manatee to top it all off. This relaxing paradise comes with everything new grill, bikes, kayaks, life jackets, snorkel gear, fishing poles, all kitchen accessories. I even found a skill saw in the shed to cut up wood for the chimenea. On our relaxing vacation right across the street is pier 68 boat rentals. No guided tours for our first time we rented a boat and explored the keys first hand anchoring off and snorkeling where ever we wanted. Also pulling up to a local dock at safari lounge grabbing a bite to eat and then back off we go what an awesome adventure we had renting a boat. Great Memories! We reserved a sport fishing trip with Captain Rick & the Sea Horse charters located at blue whale harbor. My wife didn’t want to go and by the end of this trip she was so excited and glad she went. We caught Black fin tuna and Mahi-Mahi Dolphin. Captain Rick booked us a reservation at Lazy Days restaurant where they prepared our catch of the day with a very impressive platter right on the water’s edge. Thank you Captain Rick! Key West is only 1 hour away and it was the perfect distance to go and enjoy the day. We ate at Pinchers seafood restaurant walked the streets shopping and getting brain freezes at fat Tuesday. we visited the southernmost point and then we headed back to our quiet and relaxing Paradise. Bahia Honda state park is a very nice local beach. My buddy Mike & his wife Shawna have never snorkeled. This beach is the place to teach it’s clean with white sandy and very well taken care of. Very nice! Enjoying the area I would recommend these locations. Robbie’s feeding the live tarpon; Olive Maranda imported Olive Oils, Islamorada Beer company brewery & tasting room, Lazy Days restaurant, Shell world, pier 68 Rentals and Sea Horse Charters. Lasting impressions! The owner Jerry was nice and very easy going once we arrived he gave us the tour and pointed out some of the best things to do in the area. We all loved knowing that after our day of fun in the sun we had an awesome location to come back home to. Relaxing, enjoying and share our stories with our friendly Acquaintances also renting on property. Thank you very much Jerry for the memories we made. Jason, Lisa, Mike & Shawna"

  • Best Vacation Location I Have Rented

"My experience was everything that has been repeated in these other reviews. The house is perfect for a large group great kitchen, great bedrooms, very clean through out. The owners were very accommodating with our schedule as we were driving down and were able to attend to our early arrival. I kept my boat at the inside dock which makes for easy boarding and unloading, also protected from the elements if the wind picks up. I went down with 7 teenagers, 4 adults and 2 children. The sunsets are so good from the dock I found the teenagers all 17 and 18 year olds out on the dock waiting for the sunset to happen each night, it was that good of a view. The neighbors were very friendly and even took us for a tour of the island via boat during our stay. Great location for divers and fishing expeditions as locations for local marinas and diving companies are a stones throw away. It is close to shopping and great restaurants (Sunset Grille and Pilot House). Plenty of items for the kids to make use of Kayaks, swim floats, ping pong, shuffle board, and volley ball. Lots of wildlife in the area as well. several pelicans would stop by from time to time and visit on the dock with us. Again can't say enough about the experience here in this home. Ease of booking, location, and amenities made this the perfect vacation spot. Thanks Debbie for sharing with us the perfect vacation spot I will definitely be returning soon."

  • 5-star stay in paradise "Paradise place"

"We (family of 6, 4 children 15-16-17-19) had a great time at Jim and Theresa's place. The property was clean and I could not mention any item that we possibly could need that was not there. And then there's Jim's shed, loaded with snorkeling gear, fishing rods, filled fridge, tools, bicycles, toys and inflatables, stuff for the kayaks, canoes, BBQ etc... The possibilities of fishing, kayaking, boating etc. have already been mentioned before in multiple reviews. Just as the abundance of wildlife around the house and in the canal. I won't repeat that - but all of it is true. Highlight was the arrival of 6 (!) manatees at the same time! Comment from my wife is that we finally had a house that had sufficient frying pans of considerable size to accommodate a family of 6... But most important thing: we felt at home the moment we entered the property. Another minor thing that was really appreciated: since we're from The Netherlands Jim did not come up with a personal cheque for the deposit, but returned it in cash on our last day. The one thing that was annoying was the arrival of no-see-ums and mosquitoes at around 7 PM. And since our party contains 2 that have an allergy for insect bites we spent the late evenings inside. So bring enough repellent! Thanks for a wonderful stay Jim and Theresa - we might see each other again! Rien de Bruijne and family The Netherlands"
