  • Great Place, Good Price, 2 Caveats

"Overall our experience was great. The house was comfortable and had just about everything we could need. Bill was even awesome enough to give us a bit of sugar for morning coffee before we got to the store. The kitchen was well stocked and even had a blender, which we took used to make fabulous margaritas. We loved having our morning coffee on the patio overlooking the canal. At about 8 o'clock each morning we were joined by a small pod of manatees which REALLY made for a great experience. There are a couple of things I want to mention simply because they could be deal breakers for some people and I would have liked to have known them going in. I want to be clear that even with these issues, this was still a great house and a good value FOR US but they are important enough to mention. First, this is listed as a two bedroom house but it really is not. There is one regular bedroom and one alcove with a double bed in it that is separated from the rest of the house with curtains. The alcove area is barely big enough for the bed so there is no window, dresser or closet. You cannot even store a suitcase in the second "room". It is literally just a bed with a curtain separator. We ended up choosing this property over another that was $75 less per night because we have a 12 year old daughter and privacy has become really important to her lately. This did not solve that issue for us so had we known that this wasn't truly 2 bedrooms, we would have stayed at the less expensive house. Secondly, the bed in the master bedroom is seriously uncomfortable. I mean, it borders on torturous. My husband and I both woke up with such bad back pain from the springs that we actually gave the master bedroom to the kids and stayed in the above mentioned alcove ourselves for the next four days. It solved the privacy issue for our daughter and she is young enough that the ancient bed didn't seem to bother her but it was definitely not ideal and we were disappointed in those two aspects. If I were the owner I would get rid of the master bed, replace it with the bed in the alcove, and put a set of bunk beds in the alcove. Then there would be room for a dresser in there. Add a set of accordion doors and, Poof! You have an actual 2 bedroom house and none of the beds are torture devices. Again, the location was great, the owners super accommodating, and the price wasn't too bad. Just be aware of the bed/bedroom issues."

"Great place all around! Owner was communicative and responsive. House was exactly as advertised. Beautiful location and well maintained property! Fun using the paddle boat to head out into the bay, and big space to spread out and relax."

  • Peaceful Paradise!

"Ana's house was very relaxing! We loved being able to come back from an exhausting day outside to the peace and quiet of a home instead of a hotel...not to mention being able to cool off in our own private pool! We also took full advantage of the very well stocked kitchen and ate dinner every night outside by the water. John Pennekamp State Park is minutes down the road and we enjoyed snorkeling there, Kayaking in Islamorada and even a day trip to Key West. Ana is also a great communicator and made all of our booking details a breeze! We hope to be able to stay again and definitely will recommend Ana's little piece of paradise to others"
