"Check in was in another building in the neighborhood, but easy.
When we arrived we checked the bed linens and found some dark spots on the bedspreads that were distasteful. The sheets also had some long hairs in them, and the white towels had some stains on them. We called the management office right away and they were incredibly swift in rectifying the situation, so we were happy about that. They even gave us two bikes for free to use during our stay because of it and we appreciated that immensely.
The kitchen had a lot of little ants everywhere, so don't leave anything out on the counters. It's a Key West thing to be aware of.
A top shelf in the bathroom was swarming with ants and it was pretty alarming. Apparently there was some ant bait placed up there and boy were they baited. It freaked me out.
The grounds are gated which made me feel very safe and they had a lovely pool you could dip in which was lovely.
This particular unit faces the street and the entrance to the courtyard so you don't have any privacy unless you pull the blinds closed, which darkens the whole apartment. It wasn't a huge deal, but it would have been nice to have some sunlight coming in.
The people who take care of the complex live next door and are very nice. However, one of the rules of the complex is that you're not allowed to dry anything out on your porch area on the wicker chairs. They tell you to dry everything in your bathroom or use the dryer (which is on site, coin operated.) We thought this was silly and couldn't see that seriously being enforced because it's a beach location and people are going to have towels, suits, etc.. It was. That struck me as a little uptight.
The location is perfectly suited to all the attractions in Old Town and ultimately I would stay here again. The management team told us that there were going to be some upgrades to the unit coming soon, which is exciting. The pros outweighed the negatives."
