  • Sweet slice of paradise

"Me and my girlfriend chose this property for my birthday weekend getaway, and were very pleased with our decision. Upon initial inspection we found the place to be very clean and tidy. The bedroom had a very big comfortable bed with an A/C unit that had no trouble keeping us cool day and night. The kitchen came fully stocked with all necessary utensils and appliances to cook and prepare our food. The stove is a gas stove/oven which I wasnt the biggest fan of, but served us well for the nights that we decided to cook. The living room area had a dvd player and cable TV which we watched for maybe a grand total of 20 minutes for our entire stay... because hey you're in the Florida Keys! The futon wasn't the most comfortable thing i've ever sat on, but was adequate considering we didn't plan on sitting for very long periods of time anyway. Now for the outside... the deck was very spacious with a dock that extends a few good yards out into the Gulf, the view from the dock was nothing short of amazing with incredible water clarity. We didn't get to do any snorkeling since we had a pretty good chop from constant 15-20mph winds. I did manage to catch my first bonefish which was the highlight of my entire weekend as i'm an avid fisherman. I also managed to bring in a few small mangrove snapper although the conditions were not the most ideal for fishing. Attached to the main deck is a very sturdy spiral staircase that leads you to yet another deck which is situated on the roof. The view is completely breathtaking as you can see all the color changes in the water from the sandbars, seagrass, and reefs. If you're a stargazer then you'll love it even more since there is very little light pollution in the Keys, we even stayed up to see the core of the Milky Way rise to the East, all viewable from the rooftop deck. Our neighbors were extremely nice with great conversation yet very mindful of our privacy as we were of theirs. Martha and Denise were also a pleasure to work with and were very responsive throughout. I'm giving this property 5 stars because of overall value and because you get more than you pay for. If you plan on having these amenities along with this view anywhere else in the Keys, then be prepared to fork out a couple of more bank rolls. Yes, the inside could use a few touches here and there, but for those of us not keeping up with the Kardashians or visiting from the Hamptons, this is a very sweet slice of paradise."

  • Great peaceful place and location.

"We were so happy to find this quiet and clean retreat right on the gorgeous aqua water. We ventured in the bay with the kayaks they provided. Explored the Keys in each direction. Stewart and Kate were delightful hosts and advisors. Highly recommend you check out this paradise destination!"

  • This property's listing title says it all!

"You don't have to fish to enjoy this gem but it is hard to beat if you do. My wife and I enjoyed a weeks stay with our youngest son, his wife and 18 month old daughter. The views are great, especially from the rooftop porch which offered unparalleled sunset views. Because I planned this trip so late, my wife and I stayed in 3 different homes for a week each. This was by far our favorite. If you need everything to be brand new, and have resort style amenities, this may not be your place. If you are comfortable with having all the necessities and experiencing a taste of what the Keys have been about for decades, this would be hard to beat. Conch Key is small and has a working fleet of hardworking fishermen and lobstermen whose activity is wonderful to observe. You can fish from 3 sides of the home in the canal, motor or paddle literally feet to the flats of Florida Bay (with the Gulf just beyond), or boat "just around the corner" under the bridge (Long Key Viaduct) and be in the Atlantic Ocean. You can even fish safely from the fishing/biking/walking structure that runs parallel to the road on the bridge right across the street from the entrance to Conch Key. The property is gated and has plenty of parking. The inside of the home is comfortable and has all the necessities including a well stocked kitchen. But with so many great places to sit outdoors, we spent most of our non-fishing (or other off site activity) time just enjoying the wonderful weather and sights on the property: There are two large and comfortable covered porches, the aforementioned roof deck, a couple chairs in a hidden garden, and the expansive dock area always has little surprises to view in the water (lobster, Parrot fish, Angel fish, a myriad of other small fish, Barracuda, Conchs, the occasional Manatee, and other sea life). At night the Hermit crabs may come out in force so watch your step -- you don't want to crush the little critter's shell homes! I am probably forgetting several other positives I should mention but suffice it to say, you will be comfortable, have a sense of security, and enjoy a wonderful environment. Though I didn't have the opportunity to speak with Frank Harding, his wife (the other owner) Catherine is a gem -- sweet, informative, and truly concerned with your enjoyment. We have traveled to the Keys from Woodstock, Georgia many times over the past 15 years. I can't remember enjoying a property more and I know we haven't experienced a better host. Thanks folks!"

  • Great water views

"My husband and I stayed at Conch Key over the new year. We were looking for a quiet place to stay, close enough to drive to Key West, but far enough away for some peace. Stewart and Katie were very accommodating and nice, helping us out and chatting each day. We did not bring a boat, but if you are interested in doing so, this place couldn't be better for that! You are literally 3 steps from the water with great gulf views and sunsets. It is definitely a value and close enough to restaurants and things to do."
