"We arrived just before Christmas 2016. Great location, right on the beach, short walk to the shoreline, great view. We loved the atmosphere, very quaint and large wooden deck and screened in patio were nice touches. Older property, so the bathrooms are very tiny, in fact had to sit almost sideways on the north side bathroom and had to remove the roll of toilet paper to be somewhat "comfortable." The other bathroom is a tiny bit larger, but not much. Showers, no tubs. Everything worked ok, just dated appliances and such, but they work. Nice feel to the living area and the TV gets many good cable channels. Lots of very cool tortoises that live around the dunes, great fun looking at them :) Overall a very nice stay. Just a couple of things that could make it better: If you don't have a daily cleaning service, you should leave enough towels for four or five people. One set for each is not enough if staying for a week or so since there is no washer or dryer in the cottage. We had black ants in the kitchen and the bathrooms. Not overrun, but they were scouting. In damp areas, I feel you need to treat for pests monthly, so it needs a treatment, now. There were old asphalt shingles strewn about the grassy areas in front and the front circle driveway. We realize the hurricane caused it, but time to pick it up and throw the shingles in the garbage. The deck had a persistent wasp trying to make a nest under it, etc. The decking and railing, etc. are old, so in time, it will rot through and become a step hazard. At some point, it would be good to have the railing replaced to avoid splinters and possible breakage from normal use. It was OK for us, so not urgent, but should be addressed. There was also only one roll of toilet paper for each bathroom. Not enough for 5 or 6 people for a week. We realize we have to buy stuff to cook and basic stuff, but in the hotel industry, the hotel or rental should provide the toilet paper. One small bar of soap, no shampoo or anything for the bathrooms, so it is bare bones. Providing it would be cheap and a nicer, more hospitible touch, but I guess soap is too expensive? The only other thing that would make it a 5 star vs a 4 star is that it would be really great to have a hot tub on the deck so that you could watch the ocean and take a hot tubber, but that is optional and would not prevent us from visiting again. :) Old St. Augustine is a short 4 mile drive to the north and there are plenty of places to eat and shop."
