  • Fun vamily vacation

"This was our second family vacation to St. Augustine and we loved the San Dollar Unit 5. The atmosphere was perfect and the location to both the trolley stop and grocery store could not be beat. This unit is just feet from the boardwalk and a short stroll to the beach. The unit was clean and comfortable slept my family of seven. We has plenty of room to relax at night and the master bedroom balcony gave me and my husband a nice romantic place to slip off to at night while still being close enough to keep an ear our for the teenagers down stairs. I would defiantly recommend this location for your next family vacation."

  • Wonderful Historic Gem of a House

"We had a great vacation at the Lodge. It is historic and great for family and our two small dogs. We loved the casual nature of the home. Like all old beach houses she can use some love in certain areas, but we completely enjoyed our stay and especially the short walk to what seemed like private beach. As a preservationist I love that family has left the original details in place. Everything we needed to relax. Suggest you fix the spigot in the tub, as it leaks water everywhere."

  • Family Vacation

"It was a beautiful house but definitely not for older people, it has a lot of stairs. The house was clean but they need to wash the comforters on all the beds there was a few on them very nasty. There was some rats that was eating our food. when we arrived there was some signs of a rat being on the bed downstairs. Had to clean the water reservoir on the Keurig it had not been cleaned. We had a hard time getting the spa to come on. We tried to use it everyday but only got it to come on 3 days. The house is across the street from the beach but you still have a very nice view. It's very hard to to get to the beach from the house. I Wouldn't rent it again because it was to hard to get down to the beach the signs of rats on the bed and the comforters was nasty."

  • Very Nice Beach Cottage

"We arrived just before Christmas 2016. Great location, right on the beach, short walk to the shoreline, great view. We loved the atmosphere, very quaint and large wooden deck and screened in patio were nice touches. Older property, so the bathrooms are very tiny, in fact had to sit almost sideways on the north side bathroom and had to remove the roll of toilet paper to be somewhat "comfortable." The other bathroom is a tiny bit larger, but not much. Showers, no tubs. Everything worked ok, just dated appliances and such, but they work. Nice feel to the living area and the TV gets many good cable channels. Lots of very cool tortoises that live around the dunes, great fun looking at them :) Overall a very nice stay. Just a couple of things that could make it better: If you don't have a daily cleaning service, you should leave enough towels for four or five people. One set for each is not enough if staying for a week or so since there is no washer or dryer in the cottage. We had black ants in the kitchen and the bathrooms. Not overrun, but they were scouting. In damp areas, I feel you need to treat for pests monthly, so it needs a treatment, now. There were old asphalt shingles strewn about the grassy areas in front and the front circle driveway. We realize the hurricane caused it, but time to pick it up and throw the shingles in the garbage. The deck had a persistent wasp trying to make a nest under it, etc. The decking and railing, etc. are old, so in time, it will rot through and become a step hazard. At some point, it would be good to have the railing replaced to avoid splinters and possible breakage from normal use. It was OK for us, so not urgent, but should be addressed. There was also only one roll of toilet paper for each bathroom. Not enough for 5 or 6 people for a week. We realize we have to buy stuff to cook and basic stuff, but in the hotel industry, the hotel or rental should provide the toilet paper. One small bar of soap, no shampoo or anything for the bathrooms, so it is bare bones. Providing it would be cheap and a nicer, more hospitible touch, but I guess soap is too expensive? The only other thing that would make it a 5 star vs a 4 star is that it would be really great to have a hot tub on the deck so that you could watch the ocean and take a hot tubber, but that is optional and would not prevent us from visiting again. :) Old St. Augustine is a short 4 mile drive to the north and there are plenty of places to eat and shop."
