  • Very Nice Beach Cottage

"We arrived just before Christmas 2016. Great location, right on the beach, short walk to the shoreline, great view. We loved the atmosphere, very quaint and large wooden deck and screened in patio were nice touches. Older property, so the bathrooms are very tiny, in fact had to sit almost sideways on the north side bathroom and had to remove the roll of toilet paper to be somewhat "comfortable." The other bathroom is a tiny bit larger, but not much. Showers, no tubs. Everything worked ok, just dated appliances and such, but they work. Nice feel to the living area and the TV gets many good cable channels. Lots of very cool tortoises that live around the dunes, great fun looking at them :) Overall a very nice stay. Just a couple of things that could make it better: If you don't have a daily cleaning service, you should leave enough towels for four or five people. One set for each is not enough if staying for a week or so since there is no washer or dryer in the cottage. We had black ants in the kitchen and the bathrooms. Not overrun, but they were scouting. In damp areas, I feel you need to treat for pests monthly, so it needs a treatment, now. There were old asphalt shingles strewn about the grassy areas in front and the front circle driveway. We realize the hurricane caused it, but time to pick it up and throw the shingles in the garbage. The deck had a persistent wasp trying to make a nest under it, etc. The decking and railing, etc. are old, so in time, it will rot through and become a step hazard. At some point, it would be good to have the railing replaced to avoid splinters and possible breakage from normal use. It was OK for us, so not urgent, but should be addressed. There was also only one roll of toilet paper for each bathroom. Not enough for 5 or 6 people for a week. We realize we have to buy stuff to cook and basic stuff, but in the hotel industry, the hotel or rental should provide the toilet paper. One small bar of soap, no shampoo or anything for the bathrooms, so it is bare bones. Providing it would be cheap and a nicer, more hospitible touch, but I guess soap is too expensive? The only other thing that would make it a 5 star vs a 4 star is that it would be really great to have a hot tub on the deck so that you could watch the ocean and take a hot tubber, but that is optional and would not prevent us from visiting again. :) Old St. Augustine is a short 4 mile drive to the north and there are plenty of places to eat and shop."

  • Best beach vacation ever!!

"Everything is as advertised, except the brand new house being built on the north side of the property. I'm glad we visited this property before we booked, or I might have been disappointed just driving up and seeing new construction for the first time. Since it was not a surprise and we were visiting with construction contractors in our family, we easily managed any noise issues. Vacation Rental Pro's provided exceptional customer service. From surprise guests needing last minute gate access, to responding to my email requests about how to access all the amenities provided, even addressing the construction noise and finding a missing piece of a brand new blender left behind, Vacation Rental Pros responded to every inquiry big and small. In addition to all the amenities listed, we also had access to the Cinnamon Beach pools, gym & game room/rec areas to the south of the property. The third floor bedroom now houses the double basketball beds, and the piano is were the pool table was on the 2nd floor. The pool table is conveniently located on the garage floor level. All other pictures are exactly as is. Comfy bedding and furniture, fully equipped kitchen, lovely baths/showers. We celebrated with all three generations of our family and a fantastic time was had by all. Plenty of space to have meals together, plenty of space to find your very own comfy corner even with a full house of guests. Beach was incredible, even those in our party living in Florida were pleasantly surprised when we watched stingrays and sea turtles at the beautiful beach- a first for everyone. Perfect surf for body surfing, although I would caution novice swimmers to be aware there is no lifeguard on the beach and strong currents. I would re-book this property whenever I need a large property at the beach. Easy access from Daytona Beach Airport. A little over 30 minutes to drive to St. Augustine. Thank you VRP's, your entire staff went above and beyond duty! It was a nice to do business with a company with exceptional customer service for a change. All in all a perfect vacation!!!"

  • Great Neighborhood Close to the Beach

"Overall, we had a wonderful vacation at Playa Haus. The decks are comfortable at all hours of the day and the house's location can't be beaten. The walk to St Augustine's gorgeous beach was an easy one. Our dogs loved their long twice-daily walks along the water. The downstairs apartment worked well for us when we had company. They appreciated the privacy and the separate entrance. It was an easy ride to get into the city while being close to several good restaurants in the beach area. Our dinner at the Ice Plant at the distillery, lunches at Aunt Kate's and breakfast at Georgie's Diner were all great. We loved both the Wednesday and the Saturday farmers markets along A-1-A. While the house was comfortable, there are some suggestions we would make. Our first evening in the house was cool. We could only find one throw on the main floor. Later we located a comforter on the lower level. There should be some light blankets available when the bed covers are not enough. The kitchen was more than well-supplied with dishes, cooking utensils and glassware. In fact it was so well-stocked that there was no room for groceries. Perhaps the cabinets could be thinned out a bit to mke room for renters' purchases. Renters with sensitivity to scents would also appreciate detergents and dish liquid that are unscented. We rented a couple of DVD's from the red Box at Walgreens, but we couldn't figure out how to use the DVD/Bluray player in the living room. Maybe the owners could write out instructons on using the player that may be different from the ones renters are used to. I probably sound a little negative in this review. I just want the owner to consider ways to make his/her renters even more comfortable. The house was cute, clean and nicely decorated. In fact, we have already booked the house for our vacation next year."

  • Exactly as promised

"The owners were great. Everything was arranged and set up for us, even to having wine and cheese for us on arrival. The condo was exactly as promised with 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a generous living room-dining room combination. The kitchen was small, but perfect for our vacation snacks and drinks, as well as my husband's coffee. There were beach chairs and an umbrella and a few toys for the kids to play with on the beach. There were two pools which were nice for the kids. However, the residents for the most part are 55+, which made me a little uncomfortable with my younger kids. There wasn't anything for the kids to do, and very few younger kids around the community and the beach. Part of it, I am sure, was the fact that it was September. Yet, the kids that were there were told what not to do around the pool and community, instead of enjoying being on vacation. Again, the condo was fabulous and the owners were great to work with. I would just not recommend the property for families with smaller, younger kids."
