  • Very Nice Beach Cottage

"We arrived just before Christmas 2016. Great location, right on the beach, short walk to the shoreline, great view. We loved the atmosphere, very quaint and large wooden deck and screened in patio were nice touches. Older property, so the bathrooms are very tiny, in fact had to sit almost sideways on the north side bathroom and had to remove the roll of toilet paper to be somewhat "comfortable." The other bathroom is a tiny bit larger, but not much. Showers, no tubs. Everything worked ok, just dated appliances and such, but they work. Nice feel to the living area and the TV gets many good cable channels. Lots of very cool tortoises that live around the dunes, great fun looking at them :) Overall a very nice stay. Just a couple of things that could make it better: If you don't have a daily cleaning service, you should leave enough towels for four or five people. One set for each is not enough if staying for a week or so since there is no washer or dryer in the cottage. We had black ants in the kitchen and the bathrooms. Not overrun, but they were scouting. In damp areas, I feel you need to treat for pests monthly, so it needs a treatment, now. There were old asphalt shingles strewn about the grassy areas in front and the front circle driveway. We realize the hurricane caused it, but time to pick it up and throw the shingles in the garbage. The deck had a persistent wasp trying to make a nest under it, etc. The decking and railing, etc. are old, so in time, it will rot through and become a step hazard. At some point, it would be good to have the railing replaced to avoid splinters and possible breakage from normal use. It was OK for us, so not urgent, but should be addressed. There was also only one roll of toilet paper for each bathroom. Not enough for 5 or 6 people for a week. We realize we have to buy stuff to cook and basic stuff, but in the hotel industry, the hotel or rental should provide the toilet paper. One small bar of soap, no shampoo or anything for the bathrooms, so it is bare bones. Providing it would be cheap and a nicer, more hospitible touch, but I guess soap is too expensive? The only other thing that would make it a 5 star vs a 4 star is that it would be really great to have a hot tub on the deck so that you could watch the ocean and take a hot tubber, but that is optional and would not prevent us from visiting again. :) Old St. Augustine is a short 4 mile drive to the north and there are plenty of places to eat and shop."

  • Perfect place for a family reunion!

"Excellent property in wonderful condition. We have difficulty finding a place big enough and maxed it out with 12 adults and 9 children between the ages of 9 and 3 months! Because of all the small children we didn't spend much time anywhere but on the beach, which was very convenient. Many of the adults enjoyed the Kookaburra coffee shop just across the road. Other then one meal at the Beach Comber, which everyone agreed was excellent, we ate all our meals at the house and were pleased with how well stocked it was with crockpot, pans and cooking utensils. The lay out of the house was great having a couple of separate apartments that could be closed off for the families with small children. We had no issues during the week but the owners were very responsive to our questions before hand. We'd love to return again!"

  • Ocean Village Club is very nice, and we enjoyed it.

"It's pet friendly, and one dog next to it barked for hours whenever it's owners were gone. Not good. We've stayed there many times, and would stay again. But would not use the same rental company==they were very unresponsive and impossible to contact. I'm talking about Resort Properties. Never use."

  • Fabulous Family Vacation Place

"Four generations for Thanksgiving week. Perfection! We have rented many resort area vacation homes in different areas for years and this was the best. Incredibly well stocked from kitchen dishes, flatware, platters & cocktail glasses to paper products, spices, linens & beach towels. The kitchen was so incredible that we cooked every dinner at the condo, plus a huge Thanksgiving dinner. We lacked for nothing, which is rare in a rental property. The open concept floor plan was great for our family. We used the kitchen area table for meals (brought our own beach tablescapes); the dining room table was our game area and a 24" round table with stools always had a puzzle in play! The large snack bar for four was handy, too. The owners photos & description describe the property perfectly. The 4 bedrooms were all spacious & all have ensuite private full baths. Guest half baths in 2 living area floors. We enjoyed sitting out on the spacious balconies. The 3rd floor has ocean and peak a boo beach views. Everyone could be together or easily find private spaces. Quick walk to the beautiful beach. The sunrises were outstanding. The elevator was perfect for our 84 year old matriarch. It's an end unit condo that is so huge, has the feeling of a private home. The marble floors are beautiful. The owner quickly responded to our many questions. Each of us said "I love this place" so many times! We highly recommend it. Thank you, Rachael & family, for sharing your place with our family. It was a very special & memorable Thanksgiving vacation. If your dates are available, book it! Great value. You will love it, too!"
