  • 5 star house, 4 star community features

"Our family of 8 (2 adults, 4 kids, 2 grandparents) enjoyed a weeklong stay in October last year. The house itself was great, it was very clean and felt like a modern home just at the beach. The downstairs floorplan is open which was nice so we didn't feel disconnected from each other, but the rooms on the 2nd floor were isolated enough that we could have privacy when wanted. The kitchen was very nice and worked well for the cooking and prepping that we did. The spigot and outdoor shower were nice for rinsing before going inside. We didn't use the 3rd floor but it has a great view of the beach from the balcony. The owner was nice and easy to work with and no problem getting the deposit back. The only downsides to our stay weren't the house itself but where it is. The neighborhood itself is very nice and is gated so we felt fine if the kids went around on their own. It is in a great location relative to other amenities around. We were looking forward to using the pool but it apparently was being overhauled as it was totally dug up. That was a bummer! We like the beach, but with little ones it is nice to have access to a pool too. We also found that the beach access was a bit tough on the grandparents. There are a lot of steps to go down and no real way to get around it to get access near the house. Might also be tough if you like to cart a bunch of beach swag in a wagon or something similar. I would have rated 5 stars otherwise."

  • A Magical Time in this Beautiful Beach Home

"My family has vacationed in Santa Rosa Beach for the last nine years (always south of 30A, always near the Gulf Heights beach access), and this might have been our best visit yet - thanks in large part to this beautiful and spacious home. Our family of 10 (6 adults and 4 children ages 4-12) has never had as much space to spread out in as we did this time. This was our first time staying in Old Florida Beach (in previous years, we have stayed on Buddy St. and on Betty St.), and we loved this quiet neighborhood. This house is (as far as I can tell) the most secluded house in the neighborhood - a fact that our family appreciated. I loved spending early mornings on the very private master balcony, feeling like I was in my own little world. The bunk room was a fantastic feature for our children - the 4 year-old stayed in the queen room (1st floor) with his parents, but the older boys (ages 10 and 12) absolutely loved having their own room this year. Quite honestly, the adults appreciated it even more than the kids! The couple who got the tower room were amazed at the 360 views of Draper Lake and the gulf. We had been concerned that this room would feel cramped, but it is far more spacious than the pictures might make it seem. In fact, everything about this house is bigger, brighter, and even more beautiful than the pictures show. We loved how light-filled it was, and how comfortable we are were in it. One of the best parts of staying here was the private access to the beach. We've always used the Gulfview Heights access and then walked down to Draper Lake. The short walk from this house to the private boardwalk takes you right to Draper Lake (or to the community pool, which is just three house from this house). I loved that we were so close to the beach while still feeling like we were secluded from noise and traffic. In years past, we have always stayed at houses with private pools. We gave that up this year in return for a bigger house, closer to the beach. We've decided it was a good trade. The community pool met our needs well enough, and we liked this house so much that we are already making plans to come back next year - and this time, we plan to bring even more family, to stay in the garage apartment. Thank you to the owner, for sharing this beautiful home. We have so many good family memories from our visit and we can't wait to come back!"
