  • Nice for groups but not small children

"We had a group of 20. 13 kids & 7 adults. We were the first to arrive, and found water in one of the main floor baths. We assumed the cleaning crew hadn't finished mopping, so we handled it. Up to the main floor, and found a doorknob on the mantel. The garbage outside was overflowing. A rep from Beach Reunion came by to fix some things. We went back to the bathroom. More water on the floor. There was a leak somewhere, he said he would look into it. That bathroom, off the pool, was almost unusable most of the week because of the random water. We were a group of 20, now down to 4 full baths. The towel bars and missing door knobs were apparently the work of the guests before us. A spring break party group by the sounds of it. Remember the garbage? Made sense. The first night, about 11 pm. the stove burners tried to turn themselves on. All 5. In tandem. When everyone was in bed. Maintenance came after about 45 minutes and turned off the breaker. He told us this had never happened before, and he would get a repair guy out. On Sunday (Easter) the repair man came and said this happens all the time at this house. He didn't have the part, so to use the stove we would have to flip the breaker on, let the flame ignite, and then turn the breaker on. Ok. The 2nd night there, half the house gets stomach flu. (spring break group leave some germs behind?) We went to Publix, disinfected the house top to bottom, and tried to enjoy the trip. A few nights later, we are using the oven. While it is on, the breaker flips off. We check the fuses and it is the only item on the breaker. The elevator? never got to use it. It was locked when we got there, and asked the 3rd or 4th guy who came to fix stuff about it and he said he unlocked it. Wasn't about to call again because I honestly had had it. I went to get an extra pillow from the closet. There were pillows, no cases. & the pillows were dirty. We saw plenty of bugs. Whether it was just regular Florida-ness or more than that, I can't say. Never saw bugs that big in any other rental. House gets 4 stars because it is close to the beach--perfect beach access, a media room, a pool table and a nice pool area out back. The grill was nice, the fridge outside was a nice treat once we got it turned on. Beach Reunion was apologetic & reactive. It is not child friendly for small kids. Lots of glass and knick-knacks. We put things away & still had a table crack while eating lunch."

  • Ambience was wonderful!

"Our vacation at Ambience completely exceeded our expectations. The owners of Ambience and the staff at Southern Vacation Rentals were a pleasure to deal with, and the information provided in advance was very helpful. The house itself is magnificent and impeccably maintained. The décor is beautiful, and the little decorative touches made it feel like I was walking into my own home. The second floor deck and the screened-in porch put Ambience over the top. The pools and the beach were a short walk away, but I would definitely recommend renting bicycles during your stay - you can bicycle to so much nearby. The Great Southern is perfect for casual dining, or if you are looking for something truly elegant, check out Caliza in Alys Beach. If you enjoy paddle boarding or kayaking, I would recommend renting from the Watercolor Boathouse. One side note for women - Ambience does not supply hair dryers, so make sure to bring one if needed. I would definitely recommend Ambience to family and friends!"

  • Wonderful House and Excellent Owner

"We enjoyed staying at Toes in the Sand. Summers Edge is a nice area, the street was quiet and convenient to the 2 pools and we liked the beach access. It was also a relief not to cross busy traffic on 30A. The beach was not crowded. We were able to rent an umbrella on the spot and use chairs from the house. There were 5 Adult bikes onsite but we rented bikes for our kids since they wanted baskets. The house offered lots of space with the sectional couch and large dining table. Kevin, was great with communication, flexible with requests and even sent back a pillow we left behind."
