  • Beautiful

"The place was beautifully decorated and was in a great location for the wedding we were attending at the Seaside Chapel. Very unique place."

  • Enjoyed our stay!

"This was visit 10 to Seaside since '09. Each time, I research the heck out of our house options (yes, in a spreadsheet) and look for certain qualities - location relative to shops, restaurants, pool, etc., comfortable areas to relax, proximity of the kitchen to common areas (so I'm not stuck away from the action), price, wifi, TVs, pool/fitness passes, bedroom options, responsiveness of the owner/agency, reviews, etc. This house was right up there with our favorites. We were two 50 somethings and four 20 somethings from the Northeast. There was plenty of room for everyone - sleeping, eating, hanging out, cooking, card playing, games playing. The kitchen had a direct line of sight to the table and the living room beyond that so I could still interact with people from there. It was HOT while we were there and the AC was a welcome relief each time we came back to the house. I was concerned that it would be hot for the person in the loft but he said it was cool up there, too. The master bedroom had a supplementary free standing AC unit which could seem a bit loud, but it was also provided white noise and kept the room cool. Even in the high temps the hammock on the porch was a nice place to relax. Everyone agreed that the beds were VERY comfortable. The proximity to the beach, pool, shops, restaurants, etc., worked well. It was easy for the kids to spend some time at the beach and then walk over to the pool to cool off. (The provided beach towels were convenient.) We walked over to the town center and restaurants many times to shop, eat, do happy hour, stroll through the farmer's market, etc. We eat most of our meals in, so having a good kitchen - not necessarily fancy - is a must. This kitchen was very nice as well as functional. The pots and pans, serving dishes, utensils, tools, etc., were great. They were of good quality and quantity - sometimes equipment is so cheap that you're just burning everything or struggling to chop/cut/peel. Not fun. I really liked that there was a supply of seasonings there and plastic wrap, aluminum foil, etc. We used the washer and dryer several times. The dryer was a little quirky, turning off unexpectedly sometimes, but it did its job. Dryer sheets and laundry detergent were there. We had an issue with the TV at first but the owner quickly responded to our questions. There are lots of switches in the living room/dining area and it wasn't easy to tell what went to what. Not a big deal. We'll be back!"

  • Great place, with a few caveats

"My husband and I just returned from five lovely, albeit rainy, days at Following Seas in Seaside. We were very happy with the cottage - it is a perfect proximity to the downtown area and the beach, and we found it clean, comfortable and well-appointed. We needed to call Seaside Vacations twice for minor questions (trouble logging into the wifi and a minor maintenance issue) and were impressed with the kind and prompt service we received from Matt, and I forgot a few books in the cottage and Gina from Seaside worked quickly to mail them back to me. If you're waffling on Seaside itself, we'd definitely recommend it! Lots of cute shops and restaurants (some great, some just okay, all pretty pricey...check Yelp for tons of reviews!) and just a lovely place to relax. We didn't check out all the beach pavilions but I would caution families with young kids or a lot of stuff that the trek to the beach at Savannah Street involves maybe 40-50 steps so it's not conducive to using a stroller or a beach cart to lug all your gear. (On a more positive note, the beach pavilion has a well-kept, passcode-protected bathroom so you don't have to run all the way back home for that!) The only downside for us were the outdoor areas at the cottage. The small deck shown in the listing is even smaller than it appears in the photo (really not sure you could fit a comfy chair on it, actually - nothing was there during our stay) and the combination of the size/proximity of the trees in front of it and deferred maintenance (power washing and paint would go a long way!) means it's not a place you'd really want to hang out. Same goes for a larger lower level patio/deck - it's off the bathroom (!?), not private at all, and the ragged rocking chair there is not conducive to relaxation. Final quick notes: If you're a light sleeper easily bothered by car lights/noise, this may not be the best place for you because of it's proximity to 30A, but neither of us had any trouble. And the beach chairs we found were in serious disrepair - bring your own or call the Cabana Man!"
