"What a lovely home in such a beautiful little community! The house was clean and comfortable, with plenty of space for our family of six (4 adults, 2 children). The layout worked perfectly for our family. There is a bedroom with a king bed and a bedroom with a trundle bed downstairs so that the adults can sleep on the same floor as the kids, and a master suite with two queen beds for another adult couple(s) upstairs (we were with my in-laws and they were able to have their privacy upstairs while we stayed downstairs and shared a bath with the kids). All of the bedrooms have televisions, which made it easy for the kids to watch what they wanted while the adults could talk in the living room. Wifi was very good.
The home offered lots of nice extras for us to enjoy during our stay, such as beach towels, beach toys, games, books, and magazines. The home is adorably decorated and feels, well, like home (it doesn't feel like a bare bones rental property). It is prettier than the online pictures.
The houses are close together, but the serene little garden surrounding this home made it feel very private. I loved all of the windows and porches. There are so many places to sit and relax that it was hard to choose which one I wanted to use for reading or just hanging out. The neighborhood is beautiful and really feels like a little community. I adore the picket fences and the pastel homes. It was an easy walk to the beach, though we generally drove because we had a lot of chairs and beach toys, and one of our party has a weak knee. There is not a lot of parking at the public beach area closest to the home, but there is a lot of parking just a bit farther down where the Crab Trap is.
There are a lot of restaurants, shops, and activities nearby. Right down the street and across 98 is Destin Commons, which has great shopping, a movie theater, and the most amazing Whole Foods I have ever seen in my life. I could have picked up dinner there every night- the food choices and pre-prepared meals are outstanding. We ate out several times, but the restaurants were always crowded (Labor Day weekend), and if I could do it again, I would just go to Whole Foods for every meal.
The homeowner was also great to work with. At the possible threat of a hurricane prior to our trip, she provided us with updated weather info and was willing to work us should a hurricane make our trip impossible (it didn't, thank goodness).
