  • Affordable and close to the beach - We always choose a unit in this complex.

"For several years we have chosen units in the Caribbean Dunes complex in the Crystal Beach area of Destin. It's only a block off the main street and the mid-bay bridge entrance, avoiding downtown Destin traffic. The white sands and emerald waters are just across the scenic highway and Henderson State park with less crowded beach areas. This unit had wonderful luxury towels in the bathrooms, a kitchen fully stocked with cooking items and small appliances, and its own washer/dryer unit. The upstairs bedroom is just an open loft, so the sun will wake you up in the morning and the living room TV is even louder upstairs. We put our teen daughters up there and used the bedroom on the lower floor. We love the balcony to store beach toys and dry towels and suits. And we could view the complex's swimming pool and hot tub as well as a bit of ocean from the balcony. For check in we had to visit the office to get our code. Usually we get the door code from the app on our phone and go straight to our unit - handy if we arrive late in the evening. Yes, the office was close by, but it was still an extra step that some units in this complex don't require. Bonus - we got a gift card for several free items, including a water park pass and, dolphin tour, and parasailing. Make sure you call the correct number on the card (there were 4 of them) to reserve in advance. There were no extra trash can liners, dishwasher detergent, dishwashing soap, kitchen towels, or dishrag provided. Many times when we go skiing or to the beach these are included. Since we stay a week, I had come with my own to supplement. The unit wasn't quite ready when we arrived just after the 4pm checkin time, but the cleaner let us go ahead and start unloading. We visited over July 4th week, so I know they were extra busy. Water heater is small so schedule some time before you send the next person in to bathe. These units are 20+ years old, so there are little things here and there that come with age, but we love this complex - if we can't find one on VRBO we go through a property management company to get one here. Have even considered buying a unit. The prices seem to be the same no matter how you find your unit - choose Caribbean Dunes - it's perfect!"

  • Wonderful stay over the holidays!

"Gulf Breeze was such a beautifully decorated home. It's right on the water and the walk out to the beach was short and easy with our children. We could also just sit on the deck and watch them play - it was that close. The pool was heated for the week and warm enough for the kids to play in. It is right outside the back door so families with very small children who cannot swim should take note. There is an alarm on the door but it's literally a step from the door into the pool. The rooms all had TVs and ample closet space and the elevator was so convenient. We loaded and unloaded using it. There is enough parking spaces for at least 6 cars but only three can get out at a time. However, with our 5 cars, we had no trouble letting a car out that was blocked. The kitchen is fully stocked except for a set of pot holders. I would suggest the owners add this. There were plenty of towels and each bathroom came with a small bottle of shampoo and conditioner. We loved staying at this home. The best part of the house by far is the proximity from the home to the actual sand. The deck and steps to the beach were minimal and easy for my parents to get out of the house and on to the beach with ease. There are plenty of restaurants all around and a grocery store and convenient store and a coffee shop all less than a mile from the home. It rained one day during our stay and since the outlet mall is about 2 miles from the house, we had a day of shopping. You just can't beat the location!"

  • Communications and support is first rate

"I cannot speak to the condo or the grounds as we had to cancel our trip at the last minute due to a medical complication that came up. I can speak to the communications and general kindness shown by Shelley and Bill though. All through the cancellation process and dealing with the optional travel insurance that I fortunately had purchased (3rd party separate from VRBO/The Tumlin's), Shelley and Bill have been an absolute pleasure to work with. They respond day and night (last message to Shelley was Sunday late evening 10/23/2016 was responded to w/in minutes). They are always willing to help answer questions or address VRBO system glitches. My wife and I have really appreciated the support from these two folks, both of which we have never met in person, and when we once again plan our family's first Florida Panhandle vacation, we will look the Tumlin's up and book one of their places. Thank you Shelley and Bill for the great support!"

  • Excellent

"Absolutely loved the place as we have in the past. We have booked this room a few times now and am ready to book for the 2017 season already. Super owner and great to deal with. Will continue to book this room with the owner every year in the future we make it to Destin. Josh & Caitlin"
