  • Fun in the Sun

"I have rented many times in the Barrier Dunes. Patsy is a great owner to deal with. Very organized and, by far, had the most items for us to use that other owners do not. Had bikes, beach chairs, beach toys (if you have younger ones). A great location only seconds from the beach. Beds were very comfortable and unit was stocked with kitchen items. Just a great experience. We will be renting again from her very soon."

  • Lovely, Well-Maintained Home

"Husband and I stayed here Aug. 20-26 with our two dogs. The house was the perfect size. Really appreciated the "dog-friendly" back deck with gates to keep pups safe and secure! Beautiful view of the wildlife sanctuary from the back deck, we got lots of pictures. House is very well-maintained and very comfortable. Joy lived up to her name, answering all emails promptly. An issue with a broken coffee maker was resolved immediately, no fuss. One thing I didn't think to bring was insect repellant - lots of mosquitoes, and the dogs were plagued by biting flies. Highly recommend the beach at St. Joseph Peninsula State Park, just a 15 minute drive. White sands, clear water, and services like bathrooms and showers which make it worth the $6 fee. Also recommend the Indian Pass Raw Bar, great crab and shrimp and super casual."

  • Perfect location

"We had a wonderful time staying at this lovely home. It was the perfect size for 2 adults and 2 children, and Ralph was very helpful and responsive. The location is great - you walk outside and across the street and you are on the beach. If you want quiet and solitude, Gufenauf is an excellent choice."

  • Can we get any closer to the beach???

"When we originally booked Indian Summer, we thought 4 weeks would be good. After thinking about being in Minnesota in any part of winter, we increased our stay to 6 weeks (without any problem on the owner's part). We were so happy to be in this house, on this beach, for 6 weeks. The stars shine so brightly, the waves sound so peaceful. It was an added bonus to see dolphins most every day, but especially great to see them before we checked out on our last day! We had a couple things that needed fixing and the owner was prompt in taking care of those things. The kitchen is well stocked! The beds are comfortable! The beach is spectacular! We enjoyed coffee every morning on the deck, enjoyed lunches on the screen porch. Our daughter and her family joined us for a few days and seeing our granddaughters on the beach was priceless! We will be back, guaranteed!"
