  • Still a wonderful, homey place to stay right near the most peaceful beach I've ever visited

"First, let me say that Mexico Beach itself is a small, quaint town, and is a very peaceful place to take a vacation. My grandmother and I have been frequent visitors for over 20 years, and we particularly enjoy laying on the beach watching the sand crabs and the waves and watching the spectacular sunsets. If you want to stay in a place that's hoppin' with excitement, this is NOT it. But if you want a peaceful stay in a place that is close enough to excitement for several day trips (Panama City is only about a half hour away), Mexico Beach is the place. Though we've been to the area many times, this was only my family's second visit to Double Chillin'; we stayed once previously in 2012. We found the property just as comfortable, convenient, and well kept as on our last stay. If you're looking for posh or luxurious, this is not the place for you. If you're looking for a home away from home for a week or two, with all the things you need to be comfortable (sheets and blankets, pots and pans, dishes, towels, etc.), and all just a few blocks from a lovely beach - look no farther. We were settled in with groceries purchased from Port St. Joe's Piggly Wiggly the first evening, and ready to just kick back and enjoy our stay. I enjoy the little quirks of the rental: the beach-themed wall hangings, books and magazines scattered throughout, family games and movies in the living room, and the pool table, which my daughter was old enough this visit to truly enjoy. Only 5 of us went: myself, my gran, my fiance, our daughter, and her best friend. We could easily have fit 2 or 3 more people without feeling crowded. The best part, in my opinion, is the large tub in the master bath (which does take some time to fill, but is worth the wait!), and the large screened front porch with table and chairs as well as comfy chairs and loveseat perfect for reading or chatting. We finished our trip off with a Sunday morning visit to a church service on the beach - not to be missed. I am not a churchy person, but the service was so natural, welcoming, and totally unique that I felt right at home. All in all an awesome stay. We will be back!"

  • Convenient. Family friendly and clean!

"First of all I must say Mexico Beach is an amazing place to visit, especially with kids. We were searching for a sleepy fishing town without a lot of commotion and this fit it to the T. You definitely need to stop by the grocery store on your way in because it's a good 25 to 30 minute drive if not. The house had all the essentials we needed to cook with and to prep with and the convenience of a washer and dryer. The location to the beach was absolutely perfect and the views from the shared balcony were breathtaking. The beds were pretty uncomfortable and the pull out couch slept like... well, a pull out. I would suggest bringing along a topper or something to make the beds and pull out more restful. To the owner, I would like to also suggest to do something about the bedframe in the 2nd bedroom with the bunkbeds. It looks like it has brackets for a footboard and they stick out and were very painfull when I sliced my leg on it. I was impressed with how clean it was though! We would definitely stay here again!"

  • Great vacation spot!

"We have been to Mexico Beach a few times now and this was a perfect place to stay. Very clean, easy access to the beach and right beside the pier. The kitchen was well stocked but we decided to eat out most meals this trip. Will definitely remember this place for our next getaway. Thank you for allow us to visit your home away from home."
