"This was my 6th time staying at The Plantation and first time at this house. The bedrooms were all pretty nice and we had plenty of bathrooms for our group. The kitchen was upscale compared to some of the dated house on the island. The kitchen was also fully stocked with plates, pots, pans, silverware, platters, etc. We are into cooking and this property was perfect for this. The decks on both floors were spacious with plenty of room. Outside there was a fish cleaning station that came in handy. The pool area was clean and screened in. The only downside is that the pool wasn't heated. This time a year it doesn't get that much sunlight and none of us were able to use the pool at anytime of the day. We typically go to the beach and fish during the day, but love to swim after dinner and relax. However, not being able to use the pool because it was way to cold was a bummer. They did have a hot tub that made up for this, but after 20 minutes it would have been nice to cool down in the pool without freezing. The walk to the beach was less than 60 seconds so it made it very convenient and pleasant to haul our stuff over there. The owners had some random food delivered to us the very first night which was a great gesture and we ate it very fast. Overall I would recommend this property to other large groups. On a side note we couldn't tell if one of the two trashcans was recycle or not. They weren't very clearly marked. As much plastic and cans that we go through it would have made us a little more warm and fuzzy to know we were going green."

  • Excellent stay for a large family

"I rented this house for my mother's 60th birthday. We had 10 adults and 3 children for 3 nights, and one day we had a party with an additional 9 adults and 5 children. This house is large and well-equipped enough for everyone to comfortably prepare and enjoy a large Southern supper, and of course, the kids LOVED the pool and the beach. For those staying in the house, there was more than enough space for everyone to comfortably socialize or sneak away for a nap in one of the master suites or on one of the covered patios. Prior to renting, I never knew about the extra-private neighborhood within the Plantation, near Bob Sikes Cut. The area is beautiful and feels comfortably remote. My girlfriend and I rented a couple of kayaks and rowed over to Little St. George Island, on the other side of the cut. We had a lot of fun exploring the little island. The house is generally well-appointed, with a TV in every room, a dedicated movie room, and a broad range of kitchenware and appliances. There are a few quirks, however. Some of the showers don't quite have enough water pressure to fill some of the luxurious, oversize shower heads, but the handheld shower wands make up for that. The elevator is safe, but I would recommend that it only be used if there are others in the house. My mother was the first to arrive (after business hours), and she got stuck in the elevator for about 30 minutes before she somehow got the system to start up again. Maintenance was sent out early the next morning, and we had no issues with the elevator the rest of the weekend. Indeed, it proved quite useful as more and older members of my family arrived, everyone bearing food."

  • Comfortable house on a beautiful beach in the area of fun bike paths and lots of greenery

"We are visiting here for February. The king bed mattress is super comfortable. We fall asleep to the sound of ocean waves and wake up with the sunrise showing through the sliding glass door. The kitchen is wonderfully equipped and we've made all kinds of home cooked meals in it. The artwork is very nature oriented which I love. Walks on the quiet beach, bike rides on the trails that go all the way to the state park, and drives to nearby pretty towns are fun. Sightings of dolphins, box turtles, bald eagles, osprey, egrets, and pelicans have brightened the stay. Things are improved compared to the review before this. Internet service works great. There are shades that can be drawn on the main floor if wanted. There is a table on each side of the bed. Silverware is in great shape. Everything in the house is working well. We are having a wonderful stay!"

  • Wonderful Place!

"My family just spent two weeks here and thoroughly enjoyed our time. It is family friendly and stocked with all sorts of extras - from bikes to ping pong tables. An abundance of towels for home and beach was so nice! As people who love to fish- there is no better place- a freezer outside and fabulous fish cleaning station at the dock with a large wagon. The pool was delightful - highly recommend!"
