  • "Toes in the water..... not a worry in the world..... Life is good today"

"First, I want to mention the good care and concern Mr. Neel showed from the very beginning of our rental process. He was there for us all the way. Alligator Point is a very special place. It was a gift to be on this Island, and a blessing to find these accommodations. Mr. Neel has been the owner of this cottage for a brief few months. In that time, much work has been put into this wonderful one floor cottage, and the update continues. What a lovely piece of property it is on! One thinks a beachfront home will be all sand and sun, but here you have tall pine trees, palms, hedgerows for privacy, and a view of the Gulf that takes your breath away. Sunrise and sunset are picture perfect, all part of relaxing on this nice sized lot. The back deck that looks to the water has ramps that help you on the way to the sea and sand. This is a good plus for older renters with mobility problems, which we are. One of possibly only two gazebos on the island is on this property. It is where I spent most of the week! Adirondeck chairs are there to kick back in while watching the pelicans, seabirds, and dolphins hunting for meals at water's edge. The inside of the cottage is comfortable, with all working appliances. The leather couches are very nice and comfy to sit in. We really enjoyed having our meals in the sun room looking out to the water each day. You can pull back the windows to let the sea breeze and smashing waves keep you in touch with why you came there in the first place. If there is inclement weather the covered double carport has seating and the grill is around the corner. Don't come here if you are looking for nightlife and a festival of people........... this is quiet, serene, and laid back. Bring your dogs too! It is a pup loving community. There are terrific fresh fish markets in Panacea, and we visited two restaurants, Angelo and Sons (rather disappointing from our standpoint), and Posey's which is a local mom and pop place with great seafood that has been around for years and years; we enjoyed that much more, as well as chatting with the locals. Remember.... bring your food in with you! Your closest grocery store is in Panacea.... not recommended, and an IGA in Carrabelle a little north on 98. We recommend this rental, and hope to be able to come back next year! Miss it already."

  • Wow! Found our vacation house for years to come!

"This was the first house my family has rented, and were a bit nervous about the whole process. Jim, the owner, took the time to email and call us and answer any and all our questions. The rental process went very smoothly. The pictures don't lie! This house was just as the pictures look on the website (no unpleasant surprises). Ok, the house is actually better than the pictures. House - the house is open concept at it's best. The living room, dinning room and kitchen are one big room, yet cleverly separated (this is where everyone hung out when inside and there was plenty of seating). There is also a big room upstairs that's another great place to hang out (this is where our kids hung out with each other). The house has such an open feeling to it with all the windows. On one side you look out into the bay (where dolphins could be seen every morning) and on the other side you're looking at the ocean. The bedrooms are decent size and no one felt crowded (we had six kids with us). Bathrooms were roomy (enough for mom to change and bath/shower kids with another kid brushing their teeth). The front deck (facing ocean) is like a room itself. Lots of conversation/bonding took place on it. The back deck was used to view the bay. The house is next to other houses, but you couldn't tell when you were in the house (quiet neighborhood). House was very clean and comfortable. Beach - Literally footsteps away. We felt like we had our own private beach. You could look down yonder and see a group of people that was a public beach, but no one was near us. This was nice for we could let the kids spread out on the beach with their stuff/toys and not worry about anyone taking anything. There were crabs, starfish, fish, hermit crabs, and such that could be found during the day. Yet not too many that any of the kids were afraid to swim in the ocean. At night the kids liked to walk the beach with a flashlight and see all the fiddle crabs - like all hundreds of them! We found shells, built sand castles, took walks, flew kites, and just hung out on the beach. The first night at the house, while sitting out on the beach watching the sun set, my husband asked me, "How much do you think Jim wants for the place?" Needless to stay, we love the house! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and reluctantly recommend it to others (who may take it the week we want to come back :) Seriously, this house is a treasure."

  • Beautiful and relaxing

"River Dance was a fantastic place to stay for a quiet, romantic weekend getaway! Greg has a bad knee, but there aren't so many steps in/out that it bothered him. It's small, but seems roomy with its vaulted ceiling and wall of windows facing the river. Cozy, not claustrophobic. It helped that it was beautifully decorated in such a way that fishermen will be very comfortable yet with enough feminine details that the ladies will love it, too. The kitchen was well stocked, the bathroom is huge so that there's plenty of room to dress after your bath in the fabulous jet tub and the mattress in The bedroom was firm, but comfortable. The sunsets from the dock were simply *amazing* and not to be missed! Plan on an early enough dinner so you can be home in time to enjoy a glass of wine as you take pic after pic. Things you may want to bring that the beach going type may overlook: Bug spray for watching that sunset Shoes to unload and reload the car suitable for walking in the oyster shells covering the drive (I only had flip flops) A crab basket or two for crabbing off the dock (there is one very small one) (and rope to tie them) A crab pot (the only thing not in the kitchen we could have used IF we had caught any) And that's about it. We had a lovely stay and the owner was very flexible about our last minute plans. We definitely look forward to going again and maybe bringing the boys to climb the ladder and sleep in the loft and fish off the dock with us!"
